Former Bills WR Terrell Owens elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame

‘The wide receiver posted on Instagram on Saturday “Congrats to the HOF Class of 2018. We’re GOLDEN!”’

Super Bowl Notebook: Four stories surrounding Sunday’s big game

‘“Doug’s [Pederson] done a great job of calling the plays. Using all the weapons that we have to spread the ball around. That’s really been one of our mantras this year. We’re like a basketball team that doesn’t have a 30-point scorer. We have five guys who can score. Five guys that can beat you,” said Reich on the John Murphy Show. “I think it makes us hard to defend, because we’re going to spread the ball around. Even though Alshon Jeffery’s our all-star receiver and had a lot of touchdowns, it’s not like he had 100 catches, 1,500 yards. We spread it around. Same thing with our running backs. We have Legarrette [Blount], Jay [Ajayi], Corey Clement, some really good running backs. I mean, we’re spreading the ball around there as well.”’

Tyrod Taylor wants to stay with Bills, but won’t take another pay cut

‘”Nah, that’s not really part of the plan right now,” Taylor told The Buffalo News Friday, while making appearances at the media center for Super Bowl LII on behalf of designer eyeglass frames he’s promoting. “Definitely not part of my mindset. I’ve done that before (last year, when he accepted a $10-million salary reduction over two seasons). I don’t think there’s a need to do that again. That’s definitely not part of my mindset.”‘

Tyrod Taylor on goal-line pass vs. Jags: ‘If you wanted to run, then call a run’

‘”If you wanted to run, then call a run,” Taylor said. “When you get the option and you’re given the opportunity of doing either one, and if it doesn’t happen, then people say to (do the opposite). I’m not going to go back and forth as to what you should do in that situation. That day, against Jacksonville, we really didn’t get a lot going in the running game, but you would expect Shady (McCoy) to get a yard there, but like I said, the called play was an option to do either or and we did one. It was just unsuccessful. We had an opportunity to (run), I had both hands on the ball. It was just an unfortunate situation that a PI was called.”‘

Jim Schwartz says he’ll always ‘cherish’ memories from season with Bills

‘”I think that, of all the things I take with me, I’ll always remember Duff’s and O’Neill’s,” Schwartz said. “I’ve probably got about 10 extra pounds on me from all those wings. But for the rest of my life, ‘Hey, hey, hey’ will always be followed with, ‘Let’s go Buffalo!”

Bills trainer Bud Carpenter to retire after 33 years; Shone Gipson let go

‘”We mutually agreed that now is the time,” Carpenter said. “It was time to retire. How lucky am I to be 31, 32, 33 years in the same occupation and not have to move? How many people can say that in the world of sports, let alone any walk of society?”‘

LeSean McCoy on Buffalo: ‘There’s nothing like Bills fans’

‘”I promise that I will give you everything I have to help us reach our ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl. Because making the playoffs isn’t the goal anymore. It’s the expectation,” he concludes at the end of his essay. “And I know that when we come back next season, for us to achieve our goal, you guys are gonna need me at my absolute best.’

Jim Kelly: Eric Wood belongs on Wall of Fame right next to Kent Hull

‘“He meant a lot,” Kelly said of Wood. “As a player, you watch him play, but behind the scenes (he had a great impact) with the way he talked to the players and the way he was in the locker room and for Buffalo, with how he was in the community. I understand firsthand what that guy has meant to Buffalo.’

Next Buffalo Bills quarterback? Here are the free agents they should look at

‘Last year, McDermott and Reid found common ground on two deals. First, there was the draft day trade that enabled the Chiefs to move up to pick the quarterback who will now replace Smith, Patrick Mahomes. The Bills netted two picks, including an extra first-rounder in 2018. Then, during training camp, the Bills dealt linebacker Reggie Ragland to Kansas City in exchange for a fourth-round pick.’

Buffalo Bills moving on from athletic trainers Bud Carpenter, Shone Gipson

‘Sean McDermott clearly wants a new look at the top of the Bills’ athletic training staff.’

Report: Tyrod says he won’t take a pay cut this offseason

‘According to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, the quarterback who ended the team’s 17-year playoff drought wants to remain in Buffalo. But he’s not taking a pay cut.’

Report: The Eagles tried to get LeSean McCoy back from the Bills

‘According to Manish Mehta from the New York Daily News, Roseman tried to go through “back-channel intermediaries” to get McCoy back.’

5 reasons the Bills should not trade up for Sam Darnold

‘Too many holes: Whether it comes to depth, losing starters in free agency, or looking for upgrades, the Bills have a ton of draft capital and it would be a waste to use it on a wild card in Darnold. While one of their needs would be QB with Tyrod Taylor, who’s likely to either be gone or have a restructured contract with their plan involving using him as a mentor, that is only one position. The Bills also have needs at linebacker, defensive tackle, defensive end, and right tackle. The Bills have six picks in the first three rounds and that would help fill those holes. While QB is the most important position, the Bills do not have to trade up in order to get their man.’

‘Comeback Kid’ Frank Reich has another shot at Super Bowl win

‘“At this time of year, certainly at playoff time and during wild-card weekend, it’s on TV a lot on the NFL Network and so forth and a lot of people bring it up,” Reich said at one of the Super Bowl news conferences this week. “People are very gracious. But as a coach you’re so wired to trying to stay in the moment. I find myself shying away from it.”‘

Bills training director Carpenter retires after 33 seasons

‘Under Carpenter, the Bills were named as the NFL’s 2014 athletic training staff of the year by the Pro Football Athletic Trainers Society and the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation.’
