'After back-to-back efficient showings from Tyrod Taylor, the Bills quarterback struggled against a stout Bengals defensive line. Taylor ended the afternoon completing 20 of 37 pass attempts for 166 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.'

'The formula has been established. Ride your opportunistic defense, make some big plays on special teams and hope your offense can be efficient and error-free. But as we learned in a 9-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers and again on Sunday, there are going to be times when that formula isn’t going to be enough; when you’re going to need your quarterback and your offense to win you a game.'

'We have seen this so often during the playoff drought. They get off to a good start of the season and then they lose a game they could or should have win. The Bengals were ripe for the taking but the Bills were very Billsy and couldn't make the plays they needed to and came away with a loss. Yes, they had injury issues but so did Cincinnati. This team is much improved but the bottom line is they just aren't talented enough to handle a rash of injuries.'

'Tyrod Taylor had issues holding on to the football too long on many of his six sacks. On the second one he had Jones open downfield. He stayed in the pocket where he isn't comfortable and could get nothing going in the second half and his last minute interception was just terrible.'

'On their last three possessions the Bills gained just seven yards on 13 plays, while Cincinnati went for 135 on 21 plays with a touchdown and field goal to show for it before their late interception sealed the game and the Bengals ran out the clock.'

'“You want to take advantage of those opportunities,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “That’s what taking the ball away is for. Usually when you take the ball away where it’s 3-0 (at the time) you feel like you’re in pretty good shape. We have to go back and look at the film and evaluate what we did well and what we didn’t do well.”'

'“I think it’s true of any offense — if you become one dimensional, that’s not good. We’ve got to make sure we can run the football, and run our style of offense. There have been times that we’ve done it, and there have been times we haven’t. We’ve got to continue to grow and get better there."'

'Meanwhile, cornerback E.J. Gaines is inactive due to the groin injury he suffered last week in Atlanta. He was unable to practice on Friday and was questionable coming into the game. Fellow CB Shareece Wright is active despite being listed as questionable with a back injury. He’s expected to start opposite Tre’Davious White.'

'“(Touchdowns) come in bunches. The way it plays out you get lucky and get three in a game or two in a game. It starts with that first one, that first game, the first touchdown and yards, they all kind of roll together,” McCoy said. “Just got to get over that hump and get going. That’s kind of been our issue. I haven’t gotten in the end zone either. It’s about finishing some drives and putting some points up.”'
