'"You look at it this way, I mean, right now, we have three guys under contract," he said of Taylor, EJ Manuel, and Cardale Jones. "We'll probably go to camp with three, maybe four. So, no matter what happens, we're going to do our due diligence on every quarterback in the draft, just like we're going to do on every position.'

'"You always want to get more information on a guy, especially in a setting like this," Bills General Manager Doug Whaley said. "But it's one of those things where, obviously, him and his camp decided that was the best for him.'

Who made that decision? Doug Whaley.'

'"I mean, that'd be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, of course, to play for your home team, where you grew up and all through the years," the former St. Joe's standout said while here for the Senior Bowl. "It would be truly a dream come true, especially to follow in my uncle's footsteps. But you just never know. Wherever, I'd be very, very happy."'

'"It's unfair to rank McDermott this low," Rosenthal said, "but someone has to bring up the rear. McDermott is well respected throughout the NFL, but he has the fewest tangible assets and perhaps the most difficult job of the new coaches."'

'The process basically is, we're going to sit down with every position coach and the coordinator and the head coach, and they're going to have time to look at the guys on our roster right now, be them free agents, be them restricted free agents, and be them guys that are under contract. What we want to have them do is explain their vision of the player in their system that they're going to run. So that's the process. Then we go from there and assign a value.'

'"You're obviously going to be aware of guys, but you really don't dive into them because what we like to do is be as efficient as possible," Whaley said. "So if you're going to spend your time on a guy that may not come out, then you're going to take time away from the guys that are definitely coming out. There's plenty enough time from January to the end of April to get these guys, these juniors done. If we can't get them done by us, that's our fault."'

'With that minimal surgery the usual protocol is to have them on crutches for one or two weeks in a boot for one or two weeks and allow them to return to running activity as soon as they feel good. Now even with that fairly accelerator program our studies have shown that 90-percent of guys will heal and stay stay healed. However, there are 10-percent of the guys that with that accelerator program may not be fully healed in the bone. And then after the season what we then do is go back and do a more formal bone grafting procedure to the fracture itself and then exchanging the screw, which also can be very, very successful.'

'“It’s interesting, but, you know, to be able to be around Buffalo would be a dream come true,” Kelly said Wednesday. “I think the coaching staff, they’ve got a great set of players, and the history is one of the best. So, to be able to play in front of your home team and where you grew up would be amazing.”'

'“We’ve just set up a date where we’re going to sit down with them and say, ‘Okay give us your vision of your offense, the defense and special teams,’” Whaley told Buffalobills.com. “Then we’ll start incorporating their thought process of the players we have on the roster already and their vision of those players and how they fit into what they plan to do.”'
