'I’ve always been a fan of the 73-year-old Stockton, especially of his calls of pro basketball and major league baseball games. That is why it was so sad to hear how badly he has lost his fastball.'

'Buffalo sacked 49ers’ QB Colin Kaepernick three times. The first was recorded by inside linebacker Zach Brown, his second of the year. The second one went to outside Alexander who now has one in all six games as a Bill — extending his franchise record in that category — and an NFL-leading eight on the season. He’s also the first Bill with sacks in six straight games since Aaron Schobel did it in 2006. The only other time a Bill had as many as eight sacks in the first six games was Mario Williams in 2014. The Bills last sack was by rookie defensive tackle Adolphus Washington, the second of his career.'

'It was hardly a coincidence that the man who made the trade, Chip Kelly, is now coaching the Niners. McCoy insisted he's "past that … everything's Buffalo." But that spike he made in front of the 49er bench suggested otherwise.'

'McCoy remained molten in first halves, running 11 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns. He broke a 38-yarder up the middle early in the second quarter. A 24-yard carry picked up a startling third-and-20 conversion three minutes before halftime.'

'“He hadn’t played in over a year … so you knew he was going to be rusty,” Bills linebacker Zach Brown said. “So you just had to get him out of the pocket, make bad throws, make him try and run the ball and make bad decisions. They did, and it worked.”'

'“This is what good teams do,” defensive tackle Kyle Williams said. “We were able to withstand their first surge. … I think it was the turning point of the game. We talked about it on the sideline: They wen out, they struggled that first series (after halftime), had a couple penalties and we just said, ‘listen, we are not going to start like that. '“This is the first year that I’ve ever really been doubted,” McCoy said during his news conference. “Is this kid too good? Is he not good? Are we wasting our time? So to hear you say that, yeah, it can definitely drive you.”'

'But all nitpicking aside, this team has the look of a wild-card contender in a mediocre AFC. They're 4-2, a game back of New England in the AFC East. It's amazing to contemplate, but if they win in Miami, they could be playing for first place in the division — maybe the conference — when the Pats come to town in two weeks.'
