'Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor took several jarring hits from the Ravens' aggressive pass rush and was sacked twice. He completed just 15 of 22 passes for 111 yards. Running back LeSean McCoy was held to just 58 yards on 16 carries.'

'Bills left tackle Cordy Glenn left the game with an ankle injury Sunday and will not return.'

'The Bills would get the ball first in the third quarter and drive the ball down the field and into Baltimore territory. After being able find the endzone, Carpenter would come on to attempt a 49-yard field goal. Carpenter would miss the field goal wide right, and the Ravens would take over on downs.'

'All in all, this was about as depressing an opener I could ever have imagined. Only one game into a 16 game season and the Bills have already sucked the life out of me. Chalk that up, like so many other problems, to the 16 year drought. Thank goodness the Bills are playing on Thursday. It forces me to move past this debacle as soon as possible.'

'It’s hard to gain first downs when you’re not throwing the ball to the first-down marker. The Bills were a bad 3-for-13 (23%) overall here.'

'Perhaps the only bright spot for the Bills, the defense finished the day with four sacks. Jerry Hughes had two and Leger Douzable had 1.5.'

'If this offense wants to go to the places that they think he can, he needs to take far more chances down the field than he did on Sunday against the Ravens — namely, getting their star wide receiver Sammy Watkins involved way more than he was.'

'I’m sorry, but when you have a quarterback who was among the NFL’s best deep throwers last season and you have a go-up-and-get-the-ball receiver like Watkins, you need to take at least a few shots downfield. You might connect on a bomb or get a flag. And you might free up the running game a bit if you have the defense concerned about the deep ball.'

'Buffalo’s defense after giving up 10 points early really clamped down and forced punts and a turnover on downs in the second half on a big 4th-and-1 stop by Jerry Hughes, but in the end it wasn’t enough.'

'“The referees came into training camp and told us that once a quarterback establishes himself as a runner you can do what we call as defensive linemen, ‘a gazelle chop’, where you go for his feet, and you’re diving, in a last effort to get the quarterback down,” Hughes said about the play. “I thought he was running and the referee thought differently. I guess I have to be a smarter football player.”'

'Didn’t we hear a lot of those glowing reviews about supposed saviors, from EJ Manuel back to Rob Johnson? They worked hard, too. It’s chic to say Taylor is the best Bills QB since Drew Bledsoe, but he hasn’t done significantly more in his first full season than J.P. Losman or Trent Edwards, or Ryan Fitzpatrick during his run from 2010-11.'

'How about Sunday’s game in Baltimore? If the Bills are serious playoff contenders, they need to prove it right away by winning a road game against a conference opponent that will compete with them for an AFC wild-card spot.'

'Defensive tackle Kyle Williams knows all too well what it’s like to hope. This is his 11th year in Buffalo and still, this heart and soul player, a team leader if there ever was one, has never come close to playing in a playoff game. Not even close.'
