'Groves is a seven-year journeyman who played for Tennessee last season. He has 32 starts in 100 career games and also played for Jacksonville, Oakland, Arizona and Cleveland. Seale is an undrafted rookie free agent out of Stanford.'

'"LeSean McCoy has a hamstring injury," Bills head coach Rex Ryan told Joe Buscaglia of WKBW in Buffalo. "The hamstring is intact, not off the bone. We're getting an MRI on it."'

'Seale, undrafted out of Stanford in 2015, went to rookie minicamp with the Chiefs.'

'Wide receiver Percy Harvin did not practice once again. Rex said he has a hip injury that required a shot but that it didn’t respond as well and as quickly as they had hoped. He added Harvin will be “fine” and the team is hoping he will be available for their third preseason game, next Friday against the Steelers.'

'In addition, the Bills also announced defensive end Erik Williams has been released. There is one open spot on the 90-man roster.'

'The MRI will determine whether the injury is a pulled hamstring, or merely a strain. Either way, the Bills will be without McCoy against the Cleveland Browns, and considering that hamstring injuries aren’t ones to be messed around with, he’ll likely be out at least a week. After that, it’s all up to the MRI results and how severe the injury actually is.'

'Ryan has his fingers crossed that Fred Jackson is able to return from his hamstring injury by the team’s third preseason game. “Hopefully he’ll come back for Pittsburgh,” Ryan said.'

'“You want to get things accomplished in the preseason and you need numbers to do so,” said Fred Jackson, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury of his own. “We want to get back out there. Obviously [Boobie Dixon and I] are hurting, but the more numbers that we have, that’s going to take a lot [of reps] off everybody’s plate. So we’ll try to get back out there as soon as we can.”'

'Groves, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008. He played in 16 games for the Tennessee Titans last season as a rotational player on their defense. He registered 16 tackles and a sack. He had a career-high 46 tackles and a career-high four sacks three seasons ago for the Arizona Cardinals.'

'“I didn’t realize that this guy shooting video was as smart guy as you could be around,” Ryan said of Pettine and his first job with the Ravens. “I’m proud of all the years we spent together and seeing the success that he’s had now I’m really proud of that.”'

The Bill who’s stock not only went up but skyrocketed in the opening preseason loss to Carolina is Tyrod Taylor. He ran with the twos and scored touchdowns on his first two possessions. He completed 5 of 8 passes for 49 yards but two of the incompletions were drops. He added 47 yards on six carries and led a 90 yard scoring march.

'“It’s a production-based business,” Whaley said. “He produced with the twos so we’re excited for him to get in there Thursday with the ones to see what he can do. Everybody knows what he can do with his feet. But I’m impressed with a couple of his throws.'

'“It definitely raises the level of intensity,” Bills offensive guard Richie Incognito said. “You’re going against their starting defense. They’ve got a lot of pride. They don’t want to go out there and get pushed around. They’re going against our starting offense. We want to go out there and establish our physical presence, so the level of competition gets picked up.”'

'“That guy’s been playing great for us and really coming into his own,” Ryan said. “He finally found a home at inside linebacker and obviously was a key cog in our special teams. It’s going to be a great loss for us.”'

'"It's a wonderful opportunity that I have and I'm excited for it, but there's work to be done leading up to the game and I'm focusing on that right now," Taylor said Monday following the first joint practice with the Cleveland Browns at steamy St. John Fisher College.'
