'Whaley raised that possibility after saying the expected run on quarterbacks failed to materialize during the second and third rounds of the draft Friday night. Only four quarterbacks have been selected so far.'

'"I want to thank everyone all over the world, especially my NFL family, for all of your prayers," Kelly said before announcing Buffalo's first pick in this draft, Florida State cornerback Ronald Darby at No. 50 overall. "Last year I was in the hospital not knowing if I would be here this year."'

'Darby comes to Buffalo by way of Florida State, where he started all 14 games last season and registered 43 tackles on the to go along with four pass break-ups and a forced fumble.'

'Miller made 47 career starts for the Cardinals, all at left guard, but saw plenty of action on the right side, as well. A Justice Administration major at Louisville, Miller figres to compete right away for a starting spot on the Bills opposite Richie Incognito.'

'“Well three factors: one we said at the beginning of this thing we were going to take the best player and he was the highest rated player on the board,” said Whaley. “Two, yes the fact that we can take a corner every year. Three, with the additions that the other teams have made this draft in our division, we need to keep up with the arms race, but most importantly we think this guy is a heck of a football player.”'

'Darby is also a world class sprinter, having won medals at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics.'

'“We set the board strictly on talent,” said Bills general manager Doug Whaley. “If everything is equal we will go with a need and it just happened this year, the corner (Darby) we didn’t see as a perceived need as much as the other people, we looked at it more as depth. Once you get down to the third, we were actually looking up and Mr. Miller and we had our fingers crossed that he would slide to us. We’re excited and to have a need and to have a good player that you have at the top of the board is a double bonus.”'
