‘Watkins was told by the team to not speak to the media, even though he was in plain view of everyone at his locker. Watkins told Jonah Javad of our news partner, WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, that he hurt the groin while running routes against air, meaning not in the 11-on-11 portion of the practice, so it would seem to be a non-contact injury.’

‘His injury is worth monitoring throughout the week, but for now, it appears Watkins and the Bills may have avoided a serious setback.’

‘He also had a groin injury before the Bills’ most recent game two weeks ago against the New York Jets. He was listed as probable on the injury report and had three catches for 157 yards and a touchdown in a win over the Jets.’

‘”Doctors are still being doctors and being cautious,” Jackson said. “I have to see how things progress throughout the week.”‘

‘”We’re in very good shape for (Week 10 against the Chiefs),” Brandon said. “The Jets and the Browns games are really just at limited status at this point. So, (we) feel very confident heading into the rest of the year that we’re in very good shape on the ticket front, so we won’t have to worry about anything on that end.”‘

‘Any improvement starts with the offensive line, to this point the worst of any AFC playoff contender.’

‘”Well, there’s going to be a new stadium somewhere, that’s all I know,” Terry Pegula said. “The league was pretty emphatic that Buffalo, we’re a small market, needs to be as competitive as we can.”‘

‘Watkins didn’t show any noticeable signs of the injury in the team’s locker room following practice, but declined to speak to reporters.’

‘”He’s a leader,” Watkins said. “He makes the passes that he needs to make. He knows how to help us out on the field, put us in different areas. That’s what we need, a veteran quarterback.”‘

‘ESPN reported that Watkins, who has 38 receptions for 590 yards and five touchdowns, would undergo a precautionary MRI, but the team doesn’t believe his injury is serious.’

‘”Obviously, he’s a really good player for us, so whenever you lose one of your top guys, that would be big,” center Eric Wood said.’

‘He could exercise his opt-out and seek a big-money, long-term deal in free agency with any team listening, perhaps including the Bills, or Buffalo could renegotiate a more lucrative one-year deal with him. That last scenario would give Orton flexibility for 2016 and beyond, and it would give the Bills more time to determine whether Manuel is the quarterback of the future.’

‘”I did typical stuff that we would do on Wednesday to get out there and move around and see what it feels like,” Jackson said. “It’s a process that I’ve gotta continue to see where I end up going. I was able to do some stuff today. I was able to feel confident and move around today. If things continue to progress, it’s good news.”‘

‘”He could play, or he could be out two to three weeks. Who knows?” Marrone said. “I don’t know. He didn’t finish practice. I don’t know where he’s gonna be tomorrow, I don’t know where he’s going to be.”‘
