‘”We have a lot of talent in this room. Even with EJ. They made that decision because we lost two tough games and we always have to win. Now they are just putting more emphasis on it with the quarterback and we need to win now pretty much,” Robert Woods added.’

‘”You don’t worry about the repercussions and if something happens at least you went down guns loaded or guns blowing. Just going out there and let it rip. So that’s what I’ve been practicing this past week out there against our defense. Just allowing myself to go out there and make plays naturally.”‘

‘That’s what a 10-year pro does. He focuses on the little but important details, and makes sure that everyone around him does so as well. It’s among the ways a player, especially at the game’s most important position, gets to be a 10-year pro.’

‘”They can probably answer that,” he said. “I did not feel that. I just knew that I had to do what I thought was right for the team. And when you do that, when you make these decisions, sometimes people may not agree with you. But at the end of the day, it’s your responsibility.”‘

‘And what about his grasp of the system? “I think we’ve got the full gamut of plays in and I feel comfortable. I’ve felt comfortable for the last two or three weeks. The coaches have done a good job. I feel comfortable with everything in the playbook.”‘

‘With no hesitation, he turned away to answer more questions about his first start as a member of the Bills. His answers were diplomatic and straight-forward. He thinks the quarterback he replaced, EJ Manuel, will turn out to be a great pro. He thinks the fact that he’s surrounded by talent on offense will make the situation that much easier for him, and he doesn’t think he’ll be held back despite only having a month in the offense.’

‘”I was shocked, but I understand it was a decision that I couldn’t make,” wide receiver Mike Williams said on Wednesday. “I just still have to go out and do my job no matter who they put out there. Hopefully it’s a good decision, hopefully it brings us a lot of wins.’

‘”He’s more of a veteran guy. The way he talks, the way he handles business, the way he look at plays and break down defenses is kind of different than EJ. He reads it quicker, the balls coming out faster. That’s just some things that we have to adjust to.’

‘It’s tough to have too many complaints about the Bills’ defense at this point. The secondary could stand to improve, as the Bills are a bottom 10 defense in yards per game this season. Overall, the defense hasn’t been an issue, though.’

‘Both Bradham and Williams sustained knee injuries during the Bills’ Week 4 loss to the Houston Texans. Neither Bradham or Williams was able to finish the game and both had MRIs earlier this week, the results of which are not yet known. Williams was quickly ruled out for the game following his injury on Sunday.’

‘Quarterback Matthew Stafford sustained a turf burn on his right hand last week and was wearing a bandage on it while addressing the media on Wednesday. Unlike Johnson, Stafford practiced on Wednesday.’

‘”I’m just trying to study their defense as much as I possibly can,” Stafford said. “It’s obviously different. They’ve got different players than we have here and different strengths and weaknesses within those players. They’re playing a little bit different, and it’s on us to go out and execute.’

‘”He goes about his business every week the same,” Marrone said. “I have not seen anything in him to say that this means more or less. I think that would be disappointing. So he’s going about this game just like he did last week, the week before and I’m sure in the future.”‘
