‘”Today, Mr. Kelly underwent a partial maxillectomy to remove a squamous cell carcinoma of the upper gingival caused be chronic irritation at the gum site,” said the statement from doctors at Erie County Medical Center. “He underwent reconstruction with a dental obturator. The surgery went very well. We are hopeful for and anticipate a speedy recovery and successful outcome.”‘

‘Part of Kelly’s jawbone where the squamous cell carcinoma was found and caused by “chronic irritation at the gum site” was removed. Doctors then reconstructed the affected area.’

‘The Bills released a statement, saying that the surgery went very well and that Kelly is recovering comfortably.’

‘”The outpouring of emails that we got from fans in Buffalo was unbelievable,” he said. “Once our website got out there, we had 1,500 emails in three days. I bet 70 percent of them were from people in Buffalo, or that I had been acquainted with in Buffalo over the years.”‘

‘The Buffalo Bills will hold their first 2013 training camp practice on Sunday, July 28, at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford. That practice, and four others, are night practices that require a free ticket to attend. All other practices are also free. Training camp runs through Aug. 21.’
