‘The release of Buffalo’s top two tacklers on defense in 2012 should free up approximately $6.4 million in salary cap space, which will likely be needed to replace them in free agency.’

‘The Bills’ Ruvell Martin isn’t going to cut it.’

‘General manager Buddy Nix said the cuts were made Monday with the intention of moving the team forward and freeing up spots to allow Buffalo’s younger players to step into those roles.’

‘After spending eight productive seasons with the Green Bay Packers, Barnett came to the Bills as a free agent in 2011 and led the team in tackles while playing in every game during both of his two years in Buffalo.’

‘Wilson and Barnett are two leaders on the defense. Wilson was the Bills defensive captain and their NFLPA representative. Barnett started all 16 games at middle linebacker and registered 112 tackles and 2 sacks. These cuts could be a sign of new coach Doug Marrone putting his stamp on the team. The Bills have not officially announced the the moves.
