‘I considered giving the Bills a D- because Chris Johnson is so dynamic, but four other teams held him to fewer than 24 yards this year. The Bills made Johnson look like Barry Sanders against a beer-league team. Defensive tackle Kyle Williams was bewildered by all the defensive breakdowns against the run, calling them “ridiculous.”‘

‘”They shouldn’t even be in the game with us,” Barnett said. “I hate to sit here and say this because we lost, but they shouldn’t be in the game with us. We should have beat them – bad.”‘

You cannot be inconsistent in your run fits and in your tackling when you are expected to be a good defense.”‘

‘When the Bills cut the Titans’ lead to 28-26 in the third quarter I thought the Bills should’ve gone for two to tie the game. They could’ve done it again when they pulled ahead 33-28. That would’ve forced overtime. Gailey, like most NFL coaches, was too conservative.’

‘I’m sick of this coaching staff. Dave Wannstedt isn’t cutting it as defensive coordinator. The Bills have one of the worst defensive units in the league, even though they spent a lot of money to improve the “D.” The players need to play better. No doubt about it. But they are playing in a scheme that is ineffective.’

‘But the Bills defence, almost to a man, disappointed in a game that Buffalo should have won. The Bills went into the game with the worst run defence in the NFL, and Titans running back Chris Johnson exploited it time again with 195 yards on 18 carries.’

‘”We have to re-evaluate everything you do,” said Gailey, stressing that he will not make changes to the defensive coaching staff. “I don’t think we would give up as many yards as we have given up (through seven games). I did not foresee that.’

‘The Titans rolled up 390 total yards, including 197 on the ground, and converted nine times in 14 chances on third down, a 64-percent clip that was nearly 25 percentage points better than their season average.’

‘Maybe if firing Mario Williams were an option the Bills would consider it.’
