‘As inept as the game plan against New England was because it featured Bryan Scott playing most of the game and Kelvin Sheppard and Arthur Moats on the bench, Chan Gailey had no problem with it, “That was fine. I’m fine with it. I’ve got complete confidence in Dave and what they’re trying to do and where we’ve got our people situated. That’s the majority of it, is where do you have your people situated? We’ve got our people in the right spots. We’re sound. We just have to continue to get better. We have to be able to stop the run which we did for two games and we didn’t for two games. I think we’re capable of doing that.”‘

‘”I would say it’s going to be a week or two, it may be two minimum on both of them, but we’re not going to rule out the second game today. ‘It really shouldn’t feel like UB going to play Georgia when the Bills play the Patriots, but it does.’

‘All I can think of right now is just killer instinct. We have to build up our killer instinct. How? I do not know. We just have to make plays I guess. We need to develop that killer instinct as an offense.’

‘It is always tough disrupting that chemistry and we had some continuity going there. Fortunately for us, the two guys stepping in have been here and have played. In that sense, bringing in guys that have experience in this system does help. It is something we will see as the week goes on how they do and how the other guys are doing. It is just something we will have to deal with.’

‘We tried to play eight in the box and they were still running the football, so we have got to make sure we play more on their side of the line of scrimmage. We played on our side of the line of scrimmage too much. We have to play the game more on their side of the line of scrimmage. We have to create more penetration, get the linebackers more downhill and things like that. That is the one thing you can do to create a difference. If (when) we play them again, that would be our thought process. How can we play more on their side of the line of scrimmage?’

‘The defensive staff has a lot to answer for following a game in which the Bills gave up 580 yards, second-most in team history, 45 second-half points and 31 fourth-quarter points, both the most in team history. The Patriots did whatever they wanted, by air and by land, and Dave Wannstedt had no answers.’

‘Tight end Scott Chandler and wide receiver Donald Jones both suffered head injuries, but passed concussion tests and Gailey expects both to be fine. Free safety Jairus Byrd went out in the first half with a hip pointer, and his status will be evaluated later in the week leading up to the Bills’ daunting test in San Francisco Sunday.’

‘”Yeah, I mean as a team I think we can look at what we did in the first half. There’s still more potential there. I think we had three turnovers in the first half. There’s potential to be a lot better. We can’t do anything about this game other than learn from it. So we need to get back into the film room and learn from this game and move on, and get ready for San Francisco.”‘
