‘Part of that means Fitzpatrick has to make better decisions, as his seven interceptions are among the most in the NFL. However, he could be under plenty of duress as the 49ers’ defensive front will face a Buffalo line without injured starters Cordy Glenn and Kraig Urbik.’

‘”Yeah, it’s a lot,” Gailey told reporters as his team prepares for Sunday’s game. “That puts a lot of stress on your defense to prepare for that week in and week out. He’s done a good job of running what they’ve put in and done a good job of keeping it varied so it’s not the same all the time.”‘

‘”It’s just a little deal going on, but we’ve already mentioned that before. It’s just lingering a little longer than I expected and I just (need to) get back out there and just try to deal with it and play better with it.” Williams added, “I’m a hands on player and it’s all about power in my game. Coming out of the fourth preseason game and that happening with the whole wrist and everything, but it’s fine, like I said, it just limits you and it is kind of frustrating.”‘

‘”I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t know [what he could have done differently]. Other then let him throw the ball, I don’t know. I could understand if I dove at him head first and hit him, or hit him behind the legs and dove with him with a shoulder. But I hit him with my arm. And you know, you get a $15,000 fine for hitting a guy with the ball. I don’t get it.”‘

‘Head Coach Chan Gailey said he had a conversation with this week’s opposing coach, Jim Harbaugh of the 49ers about taking this unique step in travel. The Niners just completed an Eastern swing where they played in Minneapolis (and lost) but then spent the week practicing in Ohio before heading to New Jersey where they crushed the Jets 34-0. Harbaugh said it was helpful to his team to avoid a pair of 6 hour plane rides and the Bills see it the same way. If the Bills play well, especially in Phoenix next Sunday this will look like a wise move. If they don’t then it really won’t matter how much jet fuel they saved this week .’

But we are professionals and we are going to move on. We have to because we have another great opponent coming up this week.’

‘On assessing Williams’ performance: He is trying to play the best he can play, that is for sure. I think what happens a lot of times is that there is a great deal of respect for him. They chip him and put a couple of guys on him. Bang him around in there. Can he play better? Yeah, he can play better but there is a lot of guys that fall in that category. There is a lot of guys that can play better. I can coach better. Everybody can do better.’
