‘Ralph Wilson brought the National Football League to Buffalo and has indeed kept it here. Of course it isn’t like he received nothing for his commitment. He’s been very loyal to the NFL, at times making decisions that were best for the league and not necessarily best for his own interests. Back in the 1960’s he personally helped keep the fledgling American Football League afloat and helped with its eventual merger into the NFL.’

‘”He got tight [Wednesday]. He could have gone out there today, we kept him out. We think he’ll be back out [Friday], be back Saturday and be ready to go Sunday. That’s what we think. That’s what’s anticipated.”‘

‘”The injury happened, and I’d rather it happen it now than later on in the season,” Brooks said. “Luckily with the new rule I was able to come back and glad that they designated me that one person to come back in the season.”‘

‘”You are not going to see too much in preseason of what they have in the basket,” defensive end Mario Williams said. “At the end of the day, not actually seeing them with live bullets together on a real Sunday, you don’t know what you’re going to get as far as Tebow, the Wildcat, and how they are going to attack you. We have to be able to adjust quickly, though, depending on what they do come out with.”‘

‘”You’re guessing what they’re going to do a little bit,” said Bills coach Chan Gailey. “I’m just glad we’ve had the extra day or two to get ready for it.”‘

‘”Probably the only thing worse than that would be the [Cowboys’ DeMarcus] Ware kid,” said Jets coach Rex Ryan, who used linebacker Aaron Maybin and defensive end Quinton Coples this week in practice to simulate Williams. “You don’t want to just leave anybody out there by himself down after down, but sometimes he will be by himself. Against any great pass rusher, you have to do things to help slow him down.”‘

‘”When you don’t know what you’re going to see, it creates a little bit of a problem,” the Bills coach said. “It does.”‘

‘”It’s tough because you really haven’t seen it up to that point with the preseason being that you’re facing them in the first game,” Mario Williams said today. “You kind of don’t know what to expect, they can do anything. It’s kind of you get your feet in the first half and try to adjust to it and try to see what’s going on and what they’re trying to do and how to track it.”‘
