”’I think every time you go into a year, you have to prove who you are and what kind of player you are,” Fitzpatrick said. ”That’s not just for me, that’s for the elite guys too. I’m sure (Green Bay’s) Aaron Rodgers feels like he has a lot to prove going into the year. Every season is new. And for me, I’ve got more to prove than other guys, probably. That’s it as a quarterback. You’ve got to go be able to go out there and do it, and I’m looking forward to that challenge.”’

‘As anticipated, the Bills’ top wideout was indeed taking part in the session. Johnson has been dealing with some tightness in his groin that limited him in practice on Wednesday, but said on Thursday that he doesn’t expect it to be a nagging problem like it was last season.’

‘Whether Ryan Fitzpatrick is up to the task of ending a 12 year playoff drought is what this season is about. To do that, he’ll have to prove that he can avoid so many costly mistakes.’

‘Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills quarterback, said, “I did some things last year that were good but at the same time I did not put together a full season. Last year being the year that I was going in as the guy and the starter I have to be able to be consistent all year.”‘

‘”We’ve got Stevie listed as questionable, but he went out and did all that we wanted him to do today and we’re going to take another long look Sunday morning and make a decision.”‘

‘”Sometimes I catch myself lying back in my chair with my eyes closed tight just thinking about playing,” he said. “It’s something I can’t get over just quite yet, especially when I’m watching football. I was trying hard to block it out in the beginning, but it’s coming stronger now. I was blocking out the whole ‘not being able to play again,’ but I see it and I just come back to thinking about it. I’m still really in love with the game.”‘

‘”Leading up to Friday when they made the decision it was really tough not knowing what was going to happen,” Potter said. “You just had to kick your best and even if you did do as well as you possibly could it still might not work out. I’m really blessed to have this opportunity to kick at the NFL level.”‘

‘"That’s just the way it goes playing quarterback in New York. That’s about as big as it gets," he said. "So it’s important to stay grounded and keep good people around you. Really focus on football when it’s time for the season and do everything outside of football to keep your life in order. Have good people around you. I’m confident that I have that right now."’

‘”It’s natural for something like this to happen,” Johnson said was the message he got from team trainers, “but it’ll definitely be gone and nothing we should really have too much worry about.”‘

‘”Look how many different combinations of offensive lines we had last year (eight) and we protected pretty well,” said Erik Pears, who returned to practice this week after missing most of the preseason with his groin problem. “It’s not going to be perfect every year. It’s pretty rare you’re going to have the same five all year; guys have to step in and play.”‘
