‘The trouble for Buffalo came on offense, which was sloppy and lacked finish.’

‘Replacement officials were booed late in the first quarter of the Buffalo Bills’ preseason opener against Washington on Thursday after muffing a call on a touchback.’

‘McGee has had limited practice time in training camp while recovering from left knee surgery. Nelson missed most of practice last week with a strained right knee. Starting center Eric Wood (knee) was also inactive.’

‘Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 61 yards on 6-of-14 passing and led Buffalo to one of its two field goals in the game, but that was thanks to a recovered fumble by the defense.’

‘Early in the first Buffalo had to settle for a field goal after an illegal formation penalty negated a Stevie Johnson touchdown grab. Washington responded by carving the Bills up through the air. The drive culminated with a Pierre Garcon touchdown catch to give the ‘Skins the lead.’

‘In the opening loss to Washington, the Bills had 14 penalties for 134 yards including eight false start penalties. That can’t be blamed on the first game or whatever, that’s concentration and it started right off the bat. The scary thing is if Rian Lindell didn’t shank a 22 yard field goal attempt, the Bills would’ve won.’

‘After their first performance, I think it’s fair to say that the Bills wanted more out of both Tyler Thigpen and Vince Young.’

‘”You have to invest money to make money, and that’s what we’re talking about,” Freeman said. “Ralph Wilson Stadium does not bring in any revenue.”‘

‘But Marlana Howard countered, “I don’t like it. The lines have been excessive to get in the stadium. I already missed a play.”‘

‘It was not a good night for the first team offense. Ryan Fitzpatrick struggle with his accuracy. The Bills first unit only produced a single first down on four first quarter drives, and was held to a single field goal.’

‘”I think that they have to do it. It’s just a part of the world — more that they can increase security the safer we’ll be,” she said.’

‘”We wanted to get in the no-huddle and spread the ball around a bit,” said Fitzpatrick. “We did not do a very good job executing. It is the first preseason game for us and so we knew there was going to be some sloppy stuff. There was no game plan. We just wanted to go out there and try to get it figured out on the field and we were not real successful.”‘
