‘In two months, the Bills have gone from AFC East upstarts to reclaiming their familiar role as division doormats.’

‘With Smith going on the season-ending list Tuesday, the Bills now have 16 players-including nine regulars-on IR. The rash of injuries has contributed to a seven-game skid that’s dropped Buffalo (5-9) out of playoff contention for a 12th consecutive season.’

‘Meanwhile Bills head coach Chan Gailey was asked if he thought Tebow’s success could continue. “I don’t know. It’ll be interesting to see,” the head coach said. “That’s the one reason people have said the option would have trouble making it in the NFL because you play such a long season and take so many hits running the option. Can a guy last? So far he has.”‘

‘Tebow was a great college quarterback at Florida is now earning respect around the NFL. Tebow is a great runner and that adds another dimension to the Broncos offense. Bills linebacker Chris Kelsay described Tebow this way”he’s a guy that will spin and shake out of tackles. He’ll lower his head he’ll try running over you. He’s a running back at the quarterback position. You gotta swarm him and get a lot of hats on him.”‘

‘”We recruited him out of high school so I had known him for a long time. His Dad and I were at Florida together. I’ve known him for a long time and known about him for a long time. It wasn’t anything different than I already knew about him. He’s a great guy,” said Gailey.’

‘On if he’s satisfied with what DC George Edwards has done with the defense considering all of the injuries and young guys filling in: This is not the time to discuss all of that. We’re all doing the very best that we can and trying to put guys in position to be successful. Everybody, in all three phases, that’s all we’re trying to do is be the best we can and try to win this game and the next one. That’s the goal. That’s the only thought right now.’

‘”The first time you meet him you’re kind of like, ‘What’s wrong with that guy? There’s something off about him,'” Nelson said. “Just because of the way he went in to the locker room: it was like his first week there as a freshman and he was just jumping up and down, screaming — just getting after it in the weight room. Most guys are in the weight room just to be in the weight room, but he was actually all about it and was as enthusiastic as you can be. We were all like ‘What’s wrong with this guy?”

‘Filling Smith’s roster spot is practice squad tight end Kevin Brock. He was signed to the Bills practice squad just last week, eight days after he was released by the Oakland Raiders.’

‘”We ain’t won in six weeks, seven weeks? That tells you how it feels. We started off hot, everybody was ‘Woo hoo’ Buffalo Bills, but now, we ain’t doing so good and everybody’s jumping off the bandwagon,” said Spiller. “But the good thing is these guys in this locker room are going to keep fighting. We’re just going to keep learning, you know. Too bad we didn’t have a couple breaks go our way today, these last couple games they haven’t, things we were getting early in the year is just not falling our way. We’ve got to keep playing, keep plugging away and keep fighting.”‘

‘”Justin Rogers returning kickoffs has been a positive,” said head coach Chan Gailey. “I thought that looked good for what he may bring us in the future.”‘

‘The Bills currently hold the 10th overall selection after Sunday’s 30-23 loss to the Miami Dolphins.’

‘I hope Santa delivers Fitz some receivers. He has been terrible, but he also has no one to throw to. Stevie Johnson is about it, and you know I think he’s average at best. Ol’ Grizzly needs some legit pass catchers.’

‘Gailey has been labeled an offensive-minded coach. I guess that means he isn’t much to blame for Buffalo’s defensive woes. But the offense hasn’t been so hot, either.’
