‘Byrd scored on a 37-yard return with 8:03 left and Johnson had a 17-yarder just 18 seconds later as Buffalo (6-9) closed its home schedule with a victory. C.J. Spiller rushed for a career-best 111 yards and a touchdown, and Leodis McKelvin scored on an 80-yard punt return.’

‘Buffalo tight end Scott Chandler is active after missing the past two games because of a left ankle injury.’

‘Jairus Byrd and Spencer Johnson each took back interceptions for touchdowns, and Leodis McKelvin returned a punt 80 yards for a score to help the Bills (6-9) end a seven-game losing streak in emphatic fashion.’

‘Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 15 of his 27 passes for 196 yards and no touchdowns in the win, but C.J. Spiller had an impressive outing with 111 rushing yards on 16 carries and a touchdown.’

‘I don’t think there are enough game balls to go around, but that was almost a complete win. The only thing missing was the Bills quarterback taking over at times, but baby steps are steps indeed. The defense and special teams stole the show in this game, in a year where all they did was disappoint.’

‘I’ve been quite vocal of how much I think George Edwards is in over his head as a defensive coordinator, but I must give credit when it’s due and Edwards deserves A LOT of it today. I don’t feel one decent game plan every six or seven games should save his job, but he did a superb job of designing schemes and looks to confuse Tebow.’

‘As it turned out, the man known as the Mile High Messiah didn’t have a prayer against a Bills defense that was as miserly as Scrooge.’

‘Spiller is looking downright phenomenal when he gets into open field, and he’s getting himself there much faster than he has in the past. I love Fred Jackson and the concept of a Jackson-Spiller 1-2 punch next season in whatever order they prove themselves to be suited in training camp, but as I said last week, I’d be surprised if Spiller’s success doesn’t make Jackson re-think any concept of holding out for a bigger deal.’

‘The Bills were just 1 for 6 in the red zone. Imagine how much worse the final score could have been?’

‘Chris Kelsay had a big sack of Tebow late in the first quarter. He then had a run stuff on third and inches for a loss to force a punt. He then stopped Tebow on a third and two run short of a first down. His biggest play was knocking the ball out of Tebow’s hand and the pass was picked off by Spencer Johnson and returned for a score. Kelsay had nine tackles and 2 sacks in the game.’

‘The fourth quarter had been dubbed Tebow time by those that closely followed the Broncos, but on Christmas Eve in Buffalo the fourth quarter belonged to the Bills defense. Buffalo posted back-to-back interception returns for touchdowns on two straight Denver possessions to turn a comfortable lead by the Bills into a rout in a 40-14 victory over the Broncos. The win snapped Buffalo’s seven-game losing streak.’
