‘A final decision on how a safety is added is still up in the air, but Buffalo’s brass does know they will add a safety before the offseason is said and done. “We’ll add a safety somewhere,” said Nix Thursday at the NFL combine.’

‘”Everybody thinks I’ve got ties at Auburn because I coached there and my family went there,” said Nix smiling. “But I just found out that Chan’s (Gailey) son went to Auburn and that’s why if we take him that’ll be the reason, not because he’s a big, good quarterback.”‘

‘Nix said the Bills will use the next two months to determine whether there is a franchise quarterback in this group. His concern is a large handful of the potential franchise prospects – including both top-ranked QBs Cam Newton of Auburn and Blaine Gabbert of Missouri – come out of spread-option offences.’

‘”It didn’t work out like everybody planned – he planned, I planned, any fan out there planned – it didn’t work out like any of us had planned,” Gailey said. “I still think he’s going to be a very good to great player for the Buffalo Bills. There’s no question in my mind about that.”‘

‘”I’m anxious to see him to continue to work out. I’m anxious to see what he’s going to do here this week. He obviously had a great year. I watched him several times on TV,” Gailey said. “I have not studied him to this point yet. I’ve looked at a little bit of tape, but have not studied him. He’s a big athlete that is in that wildcat mode, but obviously has the ability maybe to go to a drop-back passer mode.”‘
