‘Brown was released by the Bills earlier this season on September 4 when the team made its final cuts. He will serve as the team’s third quarterback.’

‘For the time being, the answer is Ryan Fitzpatrick with maybe a hint of Brian Brohm or a pinch of Levi Brown some time in the near future. However, the real answer is someone like Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett, or Andrew Luck.’

‘Last season at Troy University, Brown was 321 of 504 for a school and conference record 4,254 yards, with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions.’

‘”He’s got great potential, there’s no question about that,” said Gailey. “I think he understands the game. He has a great feel for things.”‘

‘”After the way that Fitz played yesterday, I feel very confident about the direction we’re going and I think we want to look at Brian as our next option and that was the change,” said Gailey.’

‘Chan Gailey had a nice mix of run and pass in the game plan, and Ryan Fitzpatrick executed things pretty well. Gailey took advantage of Fitzpatrick’s willingness to throw the ball downfield, though the Bills had only two passes that were completed for longer than 20 yards. One problem, though, was the pace of the offense in the fourth quarter. The Bills should have been no-huddling when they were down 15 points midway through the fourth. On defense, defensive coordinator George Edwards has plenty of problems to sort through. The run defense was terrible, and the pass defense wasn’t much better as the Bills gave up 445 yards, 25 first downs and 38 points.’

‘The Bills feel they may have found a decent offensive lineman on the waiver wire in guard Kraig Urbik. He was signed in Week 1 after being cut by the Steelers, and he was active against New England and spelled Eric Wood briefly.’

‘The truth is this would have happened anyway. Edwards was in the final year of his deal and his fate with the Bills was sealed the moment he was benched for the second time in as many years. I’m fine with it. In hindsight I simply question why it took so long to get to this point.’

‘This reeks of Ralph Wilson.’

‘Looking back at Trent’s career it’s hard to believe that his career record as a starter is 14-18. Only 4 games under .500? To me that is INCREDIBLE. It’s only been 32 games…but much like a terrible movie that’s only 120 minutes long and you swear you sat there for an entire DAY…this has felt like a lifetime. It’s really only been 18 losses? I’m blown away. I might have guessed 60.’

‘For the year, the Bills saw a 20.5 percent drop in season-ticket sales to 43,383, from 55,308 last season and 56,011 during the 2008 season.’

‘"Trent did the best he could," first-year coach Chan Gailey said. "He’s a great young man, and I wish him the best."’

‘I’m not clear about anything with this Buffalo offense, except for one thing: It needs a first-string, winning quarterback. Fitz is not that guy. He’s a good backup, but they’re not winning consistently with him. I’m just glad Gailey didn’t wait until the Bills were 0-8 to make the move.’

‘I rate Rob Johnson and J.P. Losman above Edwards as QBs. They didn’t return to haunt the Bills and I’ll be shocked if Edwards does.’
