Support staff work to make Bills practice great

‘"This is my first Bills (camp)," the 44-year-old Chili resident said. "It’s been neat having stars walk past and say ‘How you doing?’ They seem like normal guys. I’ve been a Giants fan, but I hope they’ll (the Bills) do better this year."’

Bills: Love and hate

‘Buffalo was last in the division last year. It was last the year before that, too. And it could be … no, should be … last this season. But strange things have happened in the AFC East, with none stranger than Miami rebounding from a 1-15 finish in 2007 to win the division the next year. Could Buffalo be next? It’s doubtful, and here’s why…’

Practice Notes – Day 19

‘”You always want to score,” said Trent Edwards. “We had a minute and 20 seconds left and two timeouts. (Coach) called some plays and (we) completed some passes and a couple of timeouts to burn. Chan made a great call at the end there and Chad slipped behind the defender, and I just put it over the top and scored a touchdown. It’s definitely encouraging and exciting going out on that note. I’m sure the defense didn’t want us to score, but I’m glad we got the better of them today.”‘

Bills coach Gailey criticizes fans for heckling

‘Immediately after practice ended Tuesday morning, Gailey marched to a group of teenagers standing near the field, and told them off for heckling players. Gailey said if “you dog one of us, you dog all of us.”‘

Bills sign tight end Andrew George

‘The 6-foot-5 George had a career-best 30 catches for 408 yards and five touchdowns at Brigham Young last year. He signed with Carolina in April before being released in June.’

Bills add another TE

‘George (6’4″ 251) was signed after the draft by the Carolina Panthers, but was released by the club in June.’

Bills secondary visits Byrd

‘”He’s not down,” said Florence. “You’ve got a guy like Jairus Byrd, it’s going to take a lot more than that to slow him down.”‘

Rookie Arthur Moats in a rush for Buffalo Bills

‘"I’ve been happy with it (progress), but as an athlete, a competitor, you always feel that you can get better," Moats said after practice Monday at Buffalo Bills Training Camp at St. John Fisher College. "I want to go from where I was the national player of the year in college to starting right away, but you’ve got to know that there’s a process. You’re just not going to be able to step at this level and come right in and play, especially when you’re changing positions. So I had to learn that mentally."’

Foschi spells relief for Stupar at tight end

‘The 6-foot-4, 265-pounder is known as a blue-collar player who is a sturdy blocker with decent receiving skills. "He knows our system, which is great," Gailey said. "He’s a competitor, a tough guy and we can always use those kind of guys."’

The Billboard: Daily dose from training camp

‘Cornerback John Destin was waived Monday. The undrafted rookie faced almost impossible odds to make the team given the Bills’ veteran depth at cornerback. He also missed practice time with an injury, which also didn’t help his cause.’

Will the Bills rotate runners?

‘Gailey’s desire to play two backs at one time on occasion – something that was shown early in training camp – is also now on the back burner. “We’ll just work on our one-back stuff,” Gailey said last week. “And when those guys get back, we’ll start on the other stuff.”‘

Can Fred Jackson be ready for Dolphins?

‘”Many times a bone in the hand, you get pretty decent healing in four weeks,” Bell said. “The standard for a fully healed fracture is six weeks. The question is whether you let him play in some kind of heavy splint or a cast. That would be the requirement at four weeks.”‘

Practice Notes – Day 18

‘”When you get to the season you don’t get to carry that many offensive linemen on game day so you have to cross train quite a few people,” said Gailey. “That’s one of the things we have to look at is cross training Eric inside if something were to happen and we have to make a move during a game.”‘

Two’s company for Bills’ banged-up tight end corps

‘”I’m just happy to be somewhere right now,” Foschi said. “To be honest with you, this never gets old.”‘

Bills sign TE Foschi; waive DB Destin

‘Bills coach Chan Gailey coached Foschi at Georgia Tech.’
