Bucs choose Van Pelt for QB coach (Tampa Tribune)

‘DeHaven isn’t April, but he’s as close as the Bills could have expected under the circumstances.’

‘During his time with the Stampeders, Cortez was a member of four Grey Cup-winning teams and developed a reputation of being one of the CFL’s brightest offensive minds.’

‘Van Pelt was a Bills quarterback from 1994 through 2003 and joined the coaching staff as a quality control coach in 2006 and 2007. He was promoted to quarterback coach in 2008 and replaced Turk Schonert as offensive coordinator before the start of the 2009 season.’

‘DeHaven held the same position with the Bills from 1987-99 before becoming San Francisco’s special teams coach in 2000. He also had stints in Dallas (2003-06), and most recently was the special teams coach with Seattle (2007-09).’

‘"I was fortunate enough to be a part of some of the greatest years in Buffalo Bills history and I am looking forward to trying to reprise that era," DeHaven was quoted as saying on the club’s website.’

‘Buffalo hired George Cortez as quarterbacks coach, Bruce DeHaven as special teams coach and Stan Hixon as receivers coach. Adrian White was also retained from the previous coaching staff.’
