‘”Looking at his track record he’s done a lot of good things around the league,” said Lee Evans. “His offense has always been productive putting up points and he’s proven he can win so I think that creates a lot of optimism going forward so I’m excited to get going.”‘

‘That kind of reminds me of when you approach the really hot girl at the bar and she tells you she’s not interested but "oh, I have this friend you have to meet!’

‘Though it may be absolutely painful to watch this team at times, I appreciate what the Buffalo Bills have given me and my dad over the years. Good or bad, this is still our team, and for as far back as I can remember, the Bills have bonded the two of us.’

‘”I think fans are frustrated by that,” Moran said. “Unless they can make a big splash in free agency again like they did last year [with Terrell Owens], I think it’s going to be difficult to sell the fan base. There’s a lot wrong with the franchise, and I don’t think Ralph Wilson will go outside the box to fix it.”‘

Given the circumstances that some people didn’t even want to talk to the Bills, they had no other choice. In my opinion, he’s better candidate than Jauron was 3 1/2 years ago, so I’m satisfied."’

And you would be shocked at some of the names. Trust me, it’s a good job. Don’t ever think you can’t fill coaching jobs, even if you’re bad."’

‘Gailey knows what to do to give the Bills a respectable offense. The big questions – does he have the players on hand to get the job done or can he help find improvements?’

‘"We said we wanted an offensive-minded coach," Nix said. "I wanted somebody that had developed quarterbacks. The folks with good quarterbacks are winning. The folks with bad ones are losing. It’s not that hard a game [to figure out]."’

‘"I believe you’ve got to run the football," Gailey said. "You’ve got to be able to run it. Now, you don’t have to lead the league in rushing to win football games. You don’t have to lead the league in passing to win football games. You’ve got to be smart, you’ve got to move the football and be intelligent with how you try to score points each and every week. That’s what we’ll try to do."’

‘"It’s exciting," Evans said Tuesday after Gailey was introduced as the Bills’ head coach. "I’m certainly looking forward to working with him. His offenses have always been successful. Even speaking with some people I’ve known who have played for him had nothing but good things to say. So I’m excited."’

‘Let me say this, we went through a lot together. We’ve had our share of ups and downs. I remember a couple of times walking into him and telling him we’re only going to have one receiver healthy enough to play for the upcoming week and he put together a package. He said ‘that’s fine, just let me know, and if you can get a second one I really would appreciate it.’ But we went into the game; we actually won the football game and used a completely different package than we had shown all year. I think probably that’s what I most appreciated. The guy didn’t cry about what he didn’t have. He’s just going to make work what he did have and that’s just the way he is.’

‘That’s the problem with new coaches. Even the Bills’ hires know how to say the right things. Gailey said a couple of times that he’d be bringing in assistants who were good teachers. That’s what Gregg Williams said nine years ago. You know how that one turned out. What Williams really meant, I suppose, was that they’d be paid like teachers.’

‘Despite pleas from angry fans who think he’s already fouled up, Nix did just fine with Gailey, a guy who has a proven track record as a solid offensive mind. But that was the easy part. What lies ahead presents a much greater challenge.’
