‘Edwards suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the New England Patriots at Ralph Wilson Stadium. An NFL source told ESPN.com’s Tim Graham that Edwards was done for the season.’

‘A person familiar with the injury told The Associated Press on Tuesday that McGee is tentatively scheduled to have the operation Wednesday. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the team had yet to make an announcement.’

‘A State Police saturation detail following the Buffalo Bills home game Sunday afternoon netted seven arrests, including four for driving while intoxicated, one for driving while ability impaired and two for marijuana possession.’

‘Once again the Bills’ staff was outcoached by Bill Belichick and his crew. It has been a common theme for a decade no matter who is in charge in Buffalo. After a terrific opening drive, the Bills had nothing to offer after Belichick recognized what was going on and adjusted. The Bills gained 241 yards, and 69 came on the first series. Again, there was no downfield passing as Terrell Owens was invisible. On defense the Bills limited New England’s potent offense, but didn’t make enough plays to turn the tide.’

‘QB Trent Edwards made his first appearance since the Tennessee game in mid-November and it was brief and unspectacular. Edwards was sacked twice, completed one pass for minus-one yard, and then suffered an ankle injury that may render him inactive the rest of the season. Coach Perry Fewell noted that starter Ryan Fitzpatrick was not getting things done on offense s the Bills had a lone field goal, scored on the opening possession of the game, when he made the switch to Edwards early in the fourth quarter. “We were not converting on the third downs,” Fewell said. “We just needed something to give us some momentum. So I made the decision that I thought Trent could come in and maybe give us a little spark, a little momentum and see what we could do.”‘

‘”It wasn’t all good, but certainly it was good enough.” It always is for the Patriots.’

‘Fitzpatrick’s failings were so apparent to interim coach Perry Fewell that he actually inserted the benched Trent Edwards in the fourth quarter. And face it, Rush Limbaugh would be more likely to endorse Barack Obama than previous coach Dick Jauron would opt for such a switch.’

‘Buffalo’s only takeaway came when middle linebacker Paul Posluszny picked off a Tom Brady pass. It was Poz’s third of the season, putting him behind only safeties Jairus Byrd (9) and George Wilson (4). Posluszny became the first Bills’ linebacker to have interceptions in back-to-back games since Bryce Paup in 1995.’
