‘By not playing it safe — he connected with Terrell Owens for a 51-yard touchdown pass to seal a 31-14 win over Miami last weekend — Fitzpatrick has earned Fewell’s trust and respect.’

‘"If he wins, I would think he would have to be strongly considered for the job," said ESPN analyst Herm Edwards, who knows Fewell. "But he’s in a very difficult situation. They have a lot of injuries on defense to overcome. They have injuries on their offensive line. They are not set at quarterback. I mean, that’s a lot for any coach to overcome. But he can’t say those things. Otherwise, it looks as if he’s just making excuses. He can only work with what he has."’

‘”I felt good,” said McGee following the team’s Tuesday practice. “I still think for the trainers it’s still day to day as far as what decision they’re going to make with respect to the game. But I practiced on it for what little we did it felt good.”‘

‘Whether Dick Jauron started the season as coach or not, and even if a whole new regime and philosophy had been in place from the start of training camp, the Bills probably would have still eventually figured out Trent Edwards is not the quarterback of the future. They also probably would have found out Fred Jackson is a better football player than Marshawn Lynch, the offensive line needs much more time to grow, and the linebackers are painfully inferior.’

‘Owens loves the aggressiveness, but wishes it happened a little earlier. “Well, he’s two weeks too late,” joked Owens. “I’ve been wanting to be aggressive all year.”‘

‘So enjoy the great win from Sunday, Bills fans. Understand that things won’t change overnight, but some fresh air is coming into the organization and that, along with the hope that never seems to die in Buffalo may make being a Bills fan fun once again.’

‘The interesting thing going into this game was to see if the aggressiveness of Perry Fewell was going to continue this week. Many times during this game, he showed that he is a lot different than Dick Jauron. The Bills delivered Fewell his first career win as a head coach as they took the game away from Miami in the fourth quarter by scoring 24 points, and coming away with a 31-14 victory.’

‘You want to know why Ryan Fitzpatrick is in for Trent Edwards? Look no further than the game-clinching touchdown drive. If Edwards is under center, he’s not going to audible into a 51-yard touchdown pass to Owens.’

‘The move, announced Tuesday, allowed the Bills to fill an open spot after promoting defensive lineman Corey Mace off their practice squad last weekend.’

‘Duncan (6’2″ 315) was an undrafted rookie free agent signing of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last May. He did not make the 53-man roster, but was signed to the club’s practice squad to start the season. He also has spent time on the Carolina Panthers practice squad.’

‘”Because the fourth quarter has been an issue for us this year it was nice to kind of put our stamp on that game and keep pushing throughout the whole fourth quarter.”‘

‘”I found out (Saturday) night and I just wanted to take advantage of the opportunity and I was definitely given my share of touches and I wanted to make as many plays as possible for this team,” said Jackson. “I felt like the more plays I can make the better it’s going to help our team to go out and get a win.”‘

‘”That is starting to become an average number of arrests now,” Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew D. Benz said.’

‘"Any player is going to want the ball," said Jackson, who signed a three-year, $3 million deal in the offseason to stay in Buffalo when he had a chance to leave as a restricted free agent. "We need two running backs and he needs to get started and he needs his carries. I know he’s the feature back and that’s who they want to try to get rolling, but yeah, anybody in my situation wants the ball. You want to help the team as much as possible."’

‘Perry Fewell showed more daring in one quarter than Dick Jauron often showed in entire years. His decision to have Lindell attempt the 56-yard field goal was a huge gamble that paid off, and he also signed off on a first-down pass play after Florence’s interception with 2:31 to go. Fitzpatrick then audibled to a deep pass and the result was a clinching TD strike to Owens. He was aggressive, and he showed faith in his players. Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt is doing his best to call plays with an offensive line that just can’t get much done. The decision to go with Fred Jackson over Marshawn Lynch was wise.’
