Parrish deserves a better fate

‘Even with the addition of Terrell Owens, the Bills’ offense figures to have its struggles moving the ball from time to time. Parrish’s incomparable punt return skills are worth an extra 15 to 25 yards in field position, which could mean all the difference in the world for a team that has had trouble finding the end zone.’

Kim brings new tips to Bills’ defenders

‘”I try to bring my martial arts background and I try to figure out how can hand-to-hand fighting and leverage and footwork improve their pass rush or football skills,” Kim said.’

Former Boise State standout Schouman ready for a tight battle for playing time in Buffalo

‘"If I make the team, it’s a one-year deal," Schouman said. "If I don’t, it’s a zero-year deal."’

Organized Team Activity: Day 8

‘Defensive line coach Bob Sanders has been focusing a lot on hand technique with respect to pass rush with his linemen, and took it up another notch bringing in Joe Kim, a Tae Kwan Do expert that has worked with six NFL teams over the past 18 years.’

Annual Kelly Golf Classic brings out celebrities for local charities

‘"It’s awesome. It’s great, 23 years," the Hall of Fame quarterback said. "Just when you see what it does for the kids. Every year we buy lunch and present the checks, whether it’s the Skating Association for the Blind and Handicapped or Catholic Charities, I could go on and on. Cradle Beach, which is one of my favorites; Kids Escaping Drugs. Of course Hunter’s Hope," he said.’

Kelly wants Obama’s help in testing issue

‘”I want to go to the top; I want to go talk to Barack,” Kelly said, referring to President Obama. “That’s the bottom line. This should not be a state by state issue. This should be federally mandated to make sure that every kid gets a chance. When I go to state to state, and it’s a no-brainer, and I get nobody pushing me back, and you know it works, and everybody agrees, why isn’t it federally mandated?”‘

Bills caps by New Era

‘The collection includes a commemorative line of merchandise celebrating the Bills’ upcoming 50th season.’

First Jack Kemp Award given to Hunter’s Hope

‘The PARC Foundation, the philanthropic branch of the company that operates Darien Lake, created the Jack Kemp Community Service Award to celebrate the life and work of the former congressman and strengthen children and families. Jill Kelly accepted the award from PARC Management CEO Randy Drew. Also attending were Kemp’s son, Jimmy, and grandson, Jack.’

Edwards gets a passing grade from Jaws

‘"I think he’s going to be a tremendous NFL quarterback," Jaworski said Monday at the Jim Kelly Celebrity Classic golf tournament in Batavia. "I think he’s got the skill set that projects very well for this league. It’s a matter of being consistent. He’s had some outstanding games, he’s had some poor games. That happens with young quarterbacks. Everyone expects to see Joe Montana on the field in the second or third year, that’s not going to happen."’

Corner not afraid of competition

‘”I come out here every day to compete against everybody,” Corner said. “We’re all a team, but at the same time, I come out here to do what I have to do to get better.”‘

Owens Impresses

‘Let’s face it…. it’s way early. But it’s nice to see the relationship between Owens and Edwards developing at what seems to be a reasonable rate. It will be critical to the Bills success this season.’

Hunter’s Hope Foundation earns honor

‘Hunter’s Hope Foundation, an organization started by Attica native Jill Kelly and her husband, former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, was to receive the inaugural Jack Kemp Community Service Award at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort today.’

Kelly eager to urge Obama on newborn screening

‘While hosting the Hunter’s Hope Foundation’s annual golf tournament, Kelly says he’ll “go to the top” to get the testing required nationally sooner rather than later.’

Sharpened Corner

‘”He’s a player, when you watch a game, you can see players that look like they want to get there and make the play and he’s one of those players,” said head coach Dick Jauron. “He wants to make the play and he’s going to try to make every play. He’s a year advanced in our scheme, so he’s more comfortable in that regard, too. We have a lot of confidence in him.”‘

Joke is on Bills, Browns and Raiders

‘These Pittsburgh-Cleveland, New England-Buffalo and San Diego-Oakland divisional games are becoming jokes. In each case, the former has beaten the latter 11 straight times, dating to 2003, tying each other for the longest current win streak one team has over another.’
