‘Whitner’s attorney, Larry Zukerman, told Judge Angela Stokes that both sides were involved in negotiations aimed at a plea deal. With the agreement of the defense and prosecution, the judge said Whitner could skip next month’s hearing because of preseason workouts.’

‘”It feels great,” said Maybin. “They’ve done so much for me in my lifetime and I definitely wouldn’t be here without my parents. They’re the strongest driving force in my life and for me to be able to just do a little something for them to just put a smile on their face… the smile on their face means the world to me.”‘

‘Ex-Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman reportedly will call signals at Sam Boyd Stadium for coach Jim Fassel when the UFL debuts in October. Losman was assigned to Las Vegas on Thursday during the league’s player allocation meeting and draft in Florida.’

‘Las Vegas coach Jim Fassel did tell the Sun last week that he had already signed a quarterback with significant NFL experience — and Losman certainly fits that description.’
