‘”That’s mine,” Jauron said. “That goes straight on me. It clearly caused us to lose the game.”‘

‘Deep down, you knew. Sunday was just another chapter.’

‘”That’s the way it goes,” he said. “People can remember whatever they want to about this game. That’s this league, that’s the game itself. Sometimes you just don’t win when you’re supposed to, for whatever reason. It’s a funny shaped ball for a reason. It bounces weird ways sometimes.”‘

‘Coaching: F: Team played hard. But Jauron’s decision to have Losman throw was the kind of call that gets coaches fired. We can only hope.’

And it should cost Jauron his job. Maybe with Trent Edwards you make that call, but not with Losman, who is clueless when it comes to feeling pressure. Schonert’s game plan was committed to the run, but the lack of downfield throws was puzzling against a Jets defense that ranked 31st in the NFL in pass defense. Unbelievable. But in reality, what Schonert feared was Losman standing in the pocket looking downfield and then getting sacked. On defense, the Bills did a decent job against the pass, but breakdowns proved costly, especially on Washington’s TD run. As for special teams, Bobby April had his guys ready, but the Corto penalty was a killer.’

‘And on Sunday, he put his nobility on display for all to see.’

‘”That goes right on me,” Jauron said. “It backfired, clearly, and caused us to lose the game.”‘

‘Lynch was at times so effective against the Jets defence that the unit drew boos from the Meadowlands crowd before redeeming itself with the final turnaround. Had the Jets lost, rest assured that head coach Eric Mangini’s head today would be in even greater demand than Jauron’s.’

‘The play call left both sides shaking their heads. As Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud walked to the locker room he said, “Just run the (bleeping) ball” to a teammate.’

‘”Of a number of heartbreaking losses, that was the worst. It was a dismal locker room,” said Jauron, who insists the play-action pass was his call, not offensive coordinator Turk Schonert’s.’
