‘”Jacksonville was bringing a lot of pressure, just getting pressure with their front four and brining some linebackers,” said Edwards. “Fred Jackson, he’s a playmaker. You just have get the ball to him and allow him to make guys miss. He did a great job for me. I think I threw the ball five yards beyond the line of scrimmage and he puts another 30 yards on the end of the play. That’s a quarterback’s dream right there.”‘

The defense wilted a bit in the third quarter but toughened in time to allow the offense to re-take the game. Edwards continues to show poise, accuracy, and pocket presence and is really developing quickly. The special teams wiped the egg of their faces from the onside kick and setup the big return by Parrish. Just a great win with the schedule setting the team up well over the next few weeks, the league will begin to buzz about this team.’

‘Marshawn Lynch had 59 yards rushing and scored once on 19 carries for the Bills (2-0), who haven’t opened a season with two wins since 2003. Fred Jackson caught seven passes for 83 yards, while Lee Evans grabbed four balls for 77 yards. Rookie James Hardy had his first career touchdown reception.’

‘Then Trent Edwards, who had a big day on third downs until on a 3rd-and-6 from the Jaguars 44, Edwards while getting great protection from his line, hit Evans for a big 37-yard reception along the near sideline to set up 1st-and-goal at the seven. On the very next play Edwards lofted a pass in the back right corner of the end zone where James Hardy leapt and came down with both feet in bounds for a seven-yard touchdown reception.’

‘But Edwards made two of his best throws when his team needed them most. Facing third-and-6 from the Jacksonville 44, Edwards hung in the pocket and threw a strike to Lee Evans that gained 37 yards. Edwards was even better on the next play, hooking up with second-round draft pick Hardy in the corner of the end zone for a 7-yard score.’

‘”There’s not a day that goes by that we don’t see or hear about a family that is affected in the same way our family was affected, that has a child that is dying,” Waggoner said in her office in Orchard Park. “We know what that’s like.
