Denney Looking To Be More Than Just An Extra

‘Denney, however, found another way to play football on national TV. As an extra on the hit NBC program Friday Night Lights. Currently living in Austin, Texas where the program is shot by NBC, Denney is enjoying the experience.’

Bills sign three players

‘The Buffalo Bills signed three free agents – punter Josh Brazen, wide receiver Chris Denney and wide receiver Daunta Peterson – and allocated them to NFL Europe this season.’

McGahee’s mouth may run him out of town

‘Plenty has been written and said about McGahee’s desire to play in Buffalo. Worrying about that is a waste of time and energy – only McGahee himself can answer that. In light of recent developments, there’s a new question to ask.’

Guard positions need addressing in Buffalo

‘Ultimately, the Bills are left with three etched-in-stone starters on their O-line for next year: Peters, Pennington and Fowler. Whether in free agency or the draft, upgrades are necessary at both guard positions.’

UD’s Daunta Peterson Headlines Buffalo Bills NFL Europe Allocations

‘The third NFL Europe assignee is receiver Daunta Peterson, a former Division III standout who played his college ball at the University of Dubuque. Peterson (5’11”, 200 lbs.) was a player who was on the Buffalo Bills’ radar screen after a solid workout at the Elite – Pro Scout camp in Indianapolis last summer.’

Bills sign 3 free agents

‘The Bills have allocated all three players to NFL Europe this spring.’

Denney Headlines Bills NFL Europe Allocations

‘Wide receivers Chris Denney and punter Josh Brazen were in training camp with the Bills last summer and will be allocated to the spring league. The third NFL Europe assignee is receiver Daunta Peterson, a former Division III wideout who played his college ball at the University of Dubuque (Iowa).’

Thomas, Reed make the cut

‘A group of 40 print and broadcast reporters from across the country votes on the Hall. During the final selection meeting the finalists are whittled down to a group of 10, then a group of six. Thurman Thomas advanced to the final 10 at last year’s meeting but was eliminated on the vote to the final six.’

NFL chief upbeat over Bills’ future

‘A “qualifiers committee” of team owners which includes Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson will meet Jan. 23 to discuss the revenue-sharing issue, Schumer said after his meeting with Goodell. The eight-member committee will recommend a revenue-sharing plan to the league.’

Former Bills Thomas, Reed are finalists for Hall of Fame

‘Could the second time be the charm for Thurman Thomas?’

What was Willis talkin’ about?

‘The phone lines for call-in shows were burning up with angry fans who want the Bills running back to be run right out of the Queen City.’

K-ball conspiracy: that’s just a theory

‘”Basically, they’re just coming out of the plastic bag,” Moorman said. “They’re still waxy, got that slick coating on them. The officials give them to the teams about 20 minutes before the game. Our equipment guys do a great job with them, but there’s only so much they can do in 20 minutes.”‘

NFL’s Goodell reassures Schumer on revenue-sharing plan

‘Schumer said Wilson’s concerns were not discussed during the meeting, but added that Goodell informed him that the qualifiers committee will next meet Jan. 23.’

Inside slant

‘If what coaches say is true, that players make their biggest leaps forward between their rookie and sophomore seasons in the NFL, then the Bills stand to be in pretty good shape in 2007.’

Strategy and personnel

‘The Bills will also allow Fletcher to hit the market. He’s 32 and despite his consistent production the team desperately needs more size in the middle of one of the NFL’s worst defenses against the run. Kelsay posted a career-best 5.5 sacks and is a player the Bills like — young and affordable.’
