‘Smith was waived Saturday by the Buffalo Bills, who drafted him in the seventh round in 2004 out of Georgia Tech. He started one of his 16 NFL games and caught eight passes for 77 yards and a touchdown. He also returned a punt for a touchdown at New England on Nov. 14, 2004.’

‘Baker, a third-year player out of Tennessee, played for the Buffalo Bills in 2004 and 2005, starting three games.’

‘”When he’s on the field, things happen,” coach Dick Jauron said. “He makes tackles on defense, he makes tackles on special teams. Clearly the contact in professional football, he doesn’t mind.”

‘On how he found out he made the team: We didn’t get a call. My agent called them around 4:30. I saw some of the guys who got a call at the hotel and I knew then. I didn’t know exactly what to expect. No news was good news, right?’

‘Cornerback Eric King, tight end Brad Cieslak, running back Fred Jackson, defensive tackle Jason Jefferson, defensive end Ryan Neill and wide receiver George Wilson all returned leaving the Bills two spots to fill if they choose.’

‘All of the players signed to the practice squad were cut on Saturday.’

‘Wilson rejoined the team a day after Buffalo cut 22 players, including him. Originally signed to the Bills practice squad in October 2004, Wilson appeared in three games last season, primarily on special teams.’

‘Those players are Eric Bassey, Brad Cieslak, Fred Jackson, Jason Jefferson, Ryan Neill and George Wilson.’

‘The Bills kept 20 players on the 53-man roster who were not with the team last year, including all eight of their rookie draft picks.’
