Henry Fumerelle Named Bills H.S. Coach of the Week

‘Coach Henry Fumerelle of Williamsville East High School has been named the Buffalo Bills high school football “Coach of the Week” for the second weekend of the 2006 season (September 9-10).’

Bills sign OT Stith to practice squad

‘Stith was released by Cleveland last month after the Browns signed the North Carolina A&T product as an undrafted rookie in May. Listed at 6-foot-9 and 320 pounds, Stith played his first three seasons at Western Michigan.’

Bills S Vincent out for season, hurt LB Spikes misses practice

‘Spikes referred to his injury as a "mild" pull of the right hamstring, but it’s uncertain whether the Bills would want the two-time Pro Bowler to test his leg and risk aggravating it further in Sunday’s game at Miami.’

Vincent placed on I.R.

Troy Vincent’s hamstring injury in Week One has brought an abrupt end to his 2006 season. The Bills starting free safety was placed on injured reserve as his injury left Buffalo with just three healthy safeties on their roster.

Bills vs. Dolphins Preview

The Bills face their second tough test in the first two weeks of the season as they go on the road to face a tough division opponent. The Dolphins are coming off of a tough loss in Pittsburgh but have had an extra three days to prepare for the Bills. They may look at them a bit more closely now because of the near upset in New England last week.

Bills’ Evans faces double trouble

‘"You have to learn what they’re doing to you and once you learn what they’re doing, you have to find ways to beat it," Evans said. "Sometimes you have to work against one man and let your technique beat another guy. Every time is a little different, so you have to know what they’re doing and adjust your route accordingly."’

AFC East may offer surprises

‘Look at it this way: A young team could suffer its inevitable growing pains and still be on the fringes of a playoff race in December. And when they fall short, you can take solace in the fact that they’re rebuilding.’

Bills still paying big price for Williams

‘It also hurts whenever the Minnesota Vikings, with Bryant McKinnie, roll over an opponent, such as Monday night’s big 19-16 victory at Washington. McKinnie, who went three picks later in that 2002 draft, is the player Bills fans play fantasy football with. The shut-the-door left tackle their team could’ve had.’

Spikes takes big step in The Comeback

‘In the days that follow surgery to repair the tendon, Spikes is miserable. He gets upset with his mother, who stays with him in his Atlanta home, because she feels sorry for him. And because she doesn’t feel sorry for him. She tells him he is moodier than a pregnant woman in her third trimester.’

Fourth-and-one: Defending Buffalo’s head coach

‘Again, what’s wrong with Jauron trying to turn the perennial losers known as the Bills into a winner for once? As the old saying goes, “You can’t steal second base and leave your foot on first.” Sometimes, when a risk is lying there, you have to take it. Jauron did; it just didn’t work out.’

Pats rush to success no surprise

‘”They just lined up their tanks and big personnel and tried to run the ball,” said Bills’ defensive end Chris Kelsay. “And we didn’t do a good job of tackling.”‘

In this case, safety last for Bills

‘"I’d rather learn by winning," said Jauron. "I’d rather make the errors and come out with the victory and then advance (learn) that way. We played hard. We just made some critical errors in the game, a couple of penalties. We are not bringing home a ‘W’ and that’s what counts."’

Simpson Looking to Put in Extra Work

‘"Troy told me he’s going to try to get me ready," said Simpson. "(Tuesday) we’re going to come in and he’s going to show me some stuff on Miami."’

Bills vs. Pats

‘As the team said afterward there are no moral victories. that’s true, but the coaching staff has to be pleased that they could play with the Patriots, when so many were predicting a big New England win.’
