Quarterback battle looms for young Bills

‘I sat down with both quarterbacks and they are saying the right things about the battle, but there is some frustration on their part about the process. Maybe the head coach and general manager are not measuring completions and audibles as much as they are waiting for one of the quarterbacks to let the frustration make them stumble. When Losman came to talk with me, he came alone. When Holcomb came by, he was with Willis McGahee. Everything counts in this battle, and developing relationships with your teammates is always a factor.’

Bills Special Program on 13WHAM-TV

‘We go “Camping with the Bills” Thursday Night at 7:30, live on 13WHAM-TV.’

Paranoia is Gone

‘I see a team that will play tougher and will player smarter than in the past. I just don’t know it the 2006 Bills have enough talent to take that attitude and cash it in for wins.’

Bills slot Parrish to make plays

‘Parrish is back this summer, doing many of the same things that caught everyone’s eye last year. If he gets through training camp in one piece this time, he might become the big-play threat the Bills need him to be.’

The billboard

‘The Bills practiced in full pads and broke out their throwback white helmets with the standing red buffalo.’

Bills QB contest lacks strife

‘But Price is in favor of coach Dick Jauron’s decision to throw the job open for competition this summer, just as long as it doesn’t carry on too long. “All of those guys look good so I can see why there’s a competition,” Price said. “It’s good for them and it’s good for the team.”‘

McGahee gives Ricard incentive to sign with Bills

‘After visiting with the Bills, Cincinnati and Houston, he chose to sign with Buffalo for one big reason. “Willis McGahee.”‘

Bills’ Royal weathers tight situation

‘”The great thing is that where I live is one of the few places above sea level in New Orleans,” Royal said. “The home was fine. We had some wind damage, but overall it didn’t get flooded out and we didn’t lose our possessions.”‘

NFL Network puts pressure on cable companies

‘The NFL purchased a full-page ad in Monday’s Buffalo News, warning fans, “TIME WARNER WILL RUIN YOUR FOOTBALL SEASON.”‘

Prime Time Practice

‘The two hour practice began under the sun and ended in darkness. “We definitely practiced until the sun went down, and that hasn’t happened in a while,” said cornerback Nate Clements. “So it was different”.’

Price Glad To Be Back In Buffalo

‘Price said the Falcons moved him to the slot receiver position and people in Atlanta wondered why he wasn’t performing like he did in Buffalo. Price says it wasn’t a good match,”I can’t catch 10 balls a game when I’m only thrown to three times.”‘

Vic Carucci’s Tuesday Huddle

‘”Two-a-days are over and I haven’t put a pad on yet?” linebacker London Fletcher said. “I’m happy with that. Coach Jauron has a tremendous plan in place, keeping guys fresh. We’re not out here a long time, but we’re getting a lot done.”‘

Whitner continues doing his best Waldo impression

‘If Whitner continues missing camp, the Bills’ No. 1 strong safety entering the regular season could very well be Matt Bowen, a 29-year-old who was signed to a relatively inexpensive two-year deal during free agency. The 6-1, 203-pounder last started in 2003, when he tallied 83 total tackles and three interceptions as a member of the Washington Redskins.’

Night Practice Notes

‘”It’s kind of like going back to the high school days,” said Evans. “When you play (in high school) sometimes you practice in the dark and some of the high school night games were kind of dark. It kind of took you back a little bit.”‘

Lee Evans Night Practice Quotes

‘I think the practice went really well. I think we came out here and got a lot of work done despite everything. Despite the darkness, the heat, regardless, I think we came out here and got a lot of work done, a lot of good work done. Everybody came out here and competed and that’s what you need to get better.’
