‘I sat down with both quarterbacks and they are saying the right things about the battle, but there is some frustration on their part about the process. Maybe the head coach and general manager are not measuring completions and audibles as much as they are waiting for one of the quarterbacks to let the frustration make them stumble. When Losman came to talk with me, he came alone. When Holcomb came by, he was with Willis McGahee. Everything counts in this battle, and developing relationships with your teammates is always a factor.’

‘If Whitner continues missing camp, the Bills’ No. 1 strong safety entering the regular season could very well be Matt Bowen, a 29-year-old who was signed to a relatively inexpensive two-year deal during free agency. The 6-1, 203-pounder last started in 2003, when he tallied 83 total tackles and three interceptions as a member of the Washington Redskins.’

‘”It’s kind of like going back to the high school days,” said Evans. “When you play (in high school) sometimes you practice in the dark and some of the high school night games were kind of dark. It kind of took you back a little bit.”‘

‘I think the practice went really well. I think we came out here and got a lot of work done despite everything.
