Bills still `a work in progress’ as they break camp

‘"It depends," the defensive coordinator said. "It depends on what day of the week."’

Bills Break Camp

‘Spikes says he won’t play in Saturday’s preseason game against Cleveland at Ralph Wilson Stadium and probably won’t play until the regular season opener either.’

Bills break camp; Saturday game on local TV

‘"I’d like to thank our friends here at the college, they did a terrific job for us as I’ve been told they always do," Jauron said. "It’s certainly one of the best settings I’ve ever been involved in for training camp in terms of facilities available, ease of getting around; you don’t need vehicles. Certainly the people have been tremendous and the fans have been tremendous, so we thank St. John Fisher. It really was an outstanding camp.”’

Bills Wish They Googled Jay Cutler Before Draft

‘After watching Cutler’s impressive performance on Saturday against the Titans, GM Marv Levy wishes he at least googled the guy. “Wow, I had no idea he was that good,” said Levy, who used his top pick on Ohio State safety Donte Whitner. “I didn’t even know what school he was from. Then I decided to google him and found all this information about how awesome he was in college. Huh. I guess I should have done that before the draft. I also should have googled Donte Whitner, because apparently he isn’t very good.”‘

Bills WR Price back at practice after hurting arm

‘The seven-year NFL veteran is slotted as the No. 2 receiver behind Lee Evans, but has been held without a catch in Buffalo’s first two preseason games.’

Buffalobills.com Training Camp Awards

‘Best hitter: Angelo Crowell. He had the most cracks on offensive players as he covered more ground than any other linebacker in camp.’

Camp Wraps Up; Still No Word On Spikes For Saturday

‘"We got a lot of work done and we came a long way," said Jauron. "We clearly have a long way to go though too, so there’s a lot of work in front of us. The guys are a hard working group that want to get the job done. They’ll work at it."’

Time Warner Cable Helps Guarantee Kids’ Day Sellout

‘The Buffalo Bills announced today that Time Warner Cable has purchased the remaining seats for the Bills Kids’ Day preseason game against the Cleveland Browns at Ralph Wilson Stadium making the event sold out for the third consecutive year. By purchasing the remaining tickets, Time Warner has made it possible for the game to air live Saturday, August 26 at 6:00 pm on WKBW-TV in Buffalo, WHAM-TV in Rochester, WTVH-TV in Syracuse and WSEE-TV in Erie. The game had been subject to NFL blackout rules.’

Shelton holds off challengers at fullback

‘”Daimon’s our fullback,” running backs coach Eric Studesville said. “He’s proven that he can do it. He’s dependable and he’s extremely productive doing it.”‘

The billboard

‘Rookie safety Donte Whitner returned to practice with a big smile on his face. He was excused from Tuesday’s session so he could go home to Cleveland for the birth of his son, Donte Jr. “It was kind of hard to come back the day after the birth of your first child,” he said. “But I have to get up here and get back to work. I’ll see him, hopefully, soon.”‘

Hunter strives for a Bills roster spot at linebacker

‘Hunter, who spent his rookie season on the Buffalo Bills practice squad, wasn’t being told to bring his playbook and see the head coach. He was being told he was starting last Saturday’s preseason game against Cincinnati at strong side linebacker, so be ready.’

Bills’ Price rests sore triceps, sits out practice

‘Jauron does not know the extent of the injury, and it is uncertain whether Price will be available to play in Buffalo’s third preseason game Saturday night at Ralph Wilson Stadium against Cleveland.’

Anderson isn’t surprised by Clarett’s sad fortunes

‘”Unfortunately, with the past he’s had, it wasn’t surprising to me,” said Anderson, the burly Buffalo Bills defensive tackle. “It wouldn’t surprise me in a year if something else happens. It’s just unfortunate.”‘

Youboty still absent from training camp

‘Youboty didn’t play in Friday’s game against Cincinnati and coach Dick Jauron doesn’t believe he’ll be ready to go for Saturday’s contest with Cleveland.’

Price misses with injury, Spikes returns

‘”His tricep was inflamed,” Bills coach Dick Jauron said following practice. “We don’t really know and he doesn’t really know how it occurred, but he felt it (Wednesday) when he was starting our weight program in the morning.”‘
