‘"At the time, I didn’t know anything about the financial part, it was one of those things that happened during the course of the visit. Just the opportunity of going somewhere else, getting a fresh start, being somewhere you’re definitely wanted. Of course, I was wanted in Washington, but obviously I came here with a couple of coaches I knew from LSU, and just coming here and seeing the whole offensive scheme and the way they wanted to put me in the scheme, I thought it would be a great fit for me. You know, the financial part, it definitely helps at the same token, but I just want to get to the point where I can be one of the elite tight ends in the league and just get myself out there, and I think this will be a great place to get that opportunity."’

‘"Everybody has a work weight that they have to come in at," he explained. "Mine was 315. When (training) camp started, it $400 per pound per day that you are over that weight. When I got off the plane I was 320. At 10 o’clock at night I was working out in my room. I slept in a trash bag."’

‘However, Ngata does not look like a good fit for the new defensive system being adopted by Bills coach Dick Jauron. The Bills want all four of their defensive linemen to penetrate gaps in the offensive line. That’s how the linemen play in Tampa, Indianapolis and Chicago, and the Bills’ new system is going to be similar to the style employed by those teams.’

‘”We don’t have a hard and fast price,” Levy said. “We’re still talking. I’ll treat that situation as it develops, because it’s a big decision.”‘

‘"It’s not going to work out [with New England]," said Johnson. "The timing’s not right. The only way it would get done now is if it falls apart with these other teams, and I don’t see that happening."’

‘Philadelphia remains at the top of Moulds’ wish list, Johnson said. Houston, Denver, New England and Kansas City have also expressed interest. "Those are the teams," Johnson said. "Each one has said they would love to have Eric. We have to work something out that makes sense to them and something that makes sense to Eric. It won’t be so hard working out a deal with the Bills. I think they’ll be reasonable."’

‘A deal wasn’t imminent Monday. Philadelphia and New England appear to be the Texans’ primary competition for Moulds. The Bills are asking for a fourth-round pick in exchange for the 32-year-old receiver.’

‘Other teams reported interested are Houston, New England, Seattle, Kansas City and Denver.’

‘The Bills will draft twice in the third round. Buffalo acquired the extra pick – 70th overall – in a trade with Tennessee for running back Travis Henry.’
