Bills owner Ralph Wilson told the media that he met with Moulds before suspending him. Wilson did not take questions. Scott Wilson reported that head coach Mike Mularkey was not in the meeting.’

‘The path isn’t quite so clear for Losman. Buffalo is still waiting for a worthy heir to Jim Kelly, nine years after he retired. Flutie had the everyman appeal, but he wasn’t there long enough (three seasons) and didn’t win enough (0-1 in the playoffs). Losman, with his scruffy/cocky vibe and the way he has embraced the city, could be a folk hero up there. But not at 4-8.’

‘Buffalo ranks dead last in the NFL at defending third down (opponents succeed 45 percent of the time), so Faulk figures to be a focal point.’

‘If Moulds refused to go back into the game at Miami, as some reports suggest, he deserves some kind of discipline or fine. He isn’t without blame here. He is unhappy with his diminished offensive role and the flimsy play-calling of the coaching staff. But what can Mularkey hope to gain by making a public example of him now?’

Don’t kid yourself. It’s not all Tom Donahoe’s fault. When you watch Terrance McGee go back to the Pro Bowl, or see Lee Evans catching TD passes, you’ll have him to thank. But it’s never one person’s fault. But when you are the guy with all of the power you are ultimately responsible for what everyone under you accomplishes or fails to accomplish.’

Eric won’t be alone, of course. A lot of Bills careers will be changing after the next four games, and we’re not just talking about the players.’

‘”I look up to Eric,” said third-year pro Sam Aiken, the recipient of most of Moulds’ playing time in Miami and the man who would start against the Patriots. “I can go to his house and ask him a question at any time, and he’s available. I guess things happen for a reason. Whatever the reason is, hopefully it’ll work out for the best.”‘

‘Unless owner Ralph Wilson Jr. already has decided to unload Mularkey and team president Tom Donohoe, he has no choice but to endorse any action against Moulds to preserve some semblance of order in the organization.’
