Moulds Wins Week 15 Game Ball

‘Is your preference to remain with the Bills next season? What do you think the odds are of this happening?

Eric Moulds: Well it’s up management and what direction they want to go. Mr. Wilson talked to me and he said he wants me to be here so that’s always a good sign. Right now it’s a 50-50 chance and I think we have to look at the end of the season and see what we are going to do with the franchise and they’ll make that decision. My first option is to be here and after that we’ll have to see what happens.’

Buffalo (4-10) at Cincinnati (11-3)

‘Bengals 31, Bills 17.’

Peck’s Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

‘The Bengals will win 34-17.’

Evaluating the Bills’ coaching staff

‘Thus, out of the twelve coaches originally hired by Mularkey, it’s my personal opinion that eight of them should return next season.’

Bills Place TE Neufeld on IR

Bills tight end Ryan Neufeld was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury Thursday.

Moorman to Pro Bowl

‘”I’m thrilled,” said Moorman, the first Bills punter to make the Pro Bowl. “More than anything else, I think it’s just a testament to how well the whole punt team has played this year. I couldn’t have done any of this without them. They have covered my back so many times when I missed the ball or something. I’m thrilled for them as much as they are for me. I owe them a lot.”‘

McGahee won’t rock boat over workload

‘”It’s disappointing. Who wouldn’t be disappointed about the situation?” said McGahee, whose yards-per-carry average has dropped to 3.8. “But it’s out of my hands. I can’t do anything about it. If I called the plays, we’d be running all the time, but I don’t know the whole scenario behind it.”‘

No regrets for Spikes

‘After Spikes’ injury, noted sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews operated on the Achilles. Spikes said he is on schedule with a recovery period of six to eight months. By the end of March, Spikes wants to be running again and come back better, stronger and faster than ever in 2006.’

Punter Moorman is lone Bills player in Pro Bowl

‘”I almost got run out of town my first year here and to be at this point is amazing.”‘

Station’s request Buffaloed by NFL

‘The NFL on Wednesday denied a request by WSEE officials to televise the Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns game at 1 p.m. Saturday instead of the scheduled Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game. WSEE is contractually obligated to televise Bills road games.’

Inside slant

‘Two years ago, Buffalo Bills general manager Tom Donahoe fired coach Gregg Williams because he felt his team lacked mental toughness. Williams’ replacement, Mike Mularkey, better hope he’s not held to a similar standard, because by his own admission, this year’s Bills team also lacks mental toughness.’

Strategy and personnel

‘When the Bills beat the Bengals last season 33-17 at Paul Brown Stadium, it was their fifth consecutive win and the fifth straight game they scored 30 or more points, a team record. What a difference a year makes.’

Notes, quotes

‘”You know there’s going to be some changes, you don’t know what type of changes or where they’re going to take place. There’s always change, on winning teams and losing teams. There’s more on losing teams, and we understand that. That’s the nature of this business. You definitely know there’s going to be some new faces in the locker room next season.”‘

Moorman is only Bills player to earn Pro Bowl selection

‘The single selection is the fewest the Bills have had since having none in 1986. The lack of Pro Bowl representation is a reflection of a 4-10 team that features a sputtering offense and porous defense — both units ranking among the NFL’s worst this season.’
