AFC East football capsules

‘Prediction: The Bills have talent, unfortunately they have to play the Patriots and Jets twice each. Defense will carry the Bills to eight wins while Losman develops.’

Oglesby hangs on with Bills

‘Evan Oglesby, a 2000 graduate of Stephens County and former All-American at the University of North Alabama, is still fighting for a cornerback spot on the Buffalo Bills roster.’

Bills’ ‘valuation’ nearly doubles in 5 years

‘The way Forbes magazine adds it up, the Buffalo Bills are worth $708 million, up 11 percent from last year.’

Receivers have final shot to state their case

‘The Bills are expected to start the season with six receivers, one more than normal. That’s because rookie Roscoe Parrish, whom the Bills are counting on to make an impact in the slot position, has a good chance to be out the first two to four weeks with a broken wrist. That leaves five players – Josh Reed, Sam Aiken, Drew Haddad, Jonathan Smith and George Wilson – in an intense battle for three remaining spots.’

Vincent to help out with seminar for dads

‘”Husband and dad are the two most important jobs I do, so I strive every day to be the best husband and dad I can be,” Vincent said. “The lessons that men can learn at the All Pro Dad Seminar are so important because our children do not come with an instruction manual or a playbook.”‘

Bills prepare for final casting call

‘NFL rosters must be trimmed to 53 players on Saturday, meaning the Bills have to make roster moves affecting 14 players.’

Tucker eyes latest NFL challenge

‘”I think we always had the talent and we still do,” Tucker said. “Defensively, we’ve had the No. 2 ranked defense in the league the last two years in a row. Our special teams was No. 1. Offensively, we’ve made a lot of strides. In the beginning of the year, nobody knew about Lee Evans. Guys like him emerged. He started decently and got better and better. Now he’s a future star, or already one. Willis McGahee wasn’t starting until the fifth game. They’re key contributors. That was a big reason for the turnaround. On offense, we were able to take advantage of the opportunities special teams and defense gave us.”‘
