Buffalo Bills 2005 Season Preview

‘The Bills appear destined to finish third, and with enough improvement by the new-look Dolphins, could realistically descend to the AFC East basement.’

Jim Kelly’s son, Hunter, dies

‘The Kelly family was preparing to issue a press release later in the day, Dan Kelly said.’

Hunter Kelly Loses Battle With Krabbe’s Disease

‘The son of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly has lost his life-long battle with the genetic disorder Krabbe’s Disease.’

Jim Kelly ‘s son Hunter dies

‘Hunter Kelly was just 8-years-old. The son of former Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly has been fighting Krabbes disease for his entire life.’

Bills Maybe Interested Eagles Simon

‘The report goes on to say that the Bills are looking to get Simon to agree to a contract and then would have to come up with compensation for the Eagles.’

Parrish becoming deep threat

‘”Every period was pretty much successful,” Losman said. “The first couple periods we had problems with the cadence. The linemen and defensive linemen both were so antsy and so quick to get off the jump. They wanted to hit each other so fast they forgot about the cadence. We corrected that definitely in the second team period.”‘

The billboard

‘NFL umpire Jim Quick, entering his 18th season, led a seminar for both teams concerning new rules and points of emphasis the league officials have this season. They include a new, streamlined pocket, which relates to illegal contact penalties that became so prevalent last season; elimination of peel-back blocks that tend to occur on screen passes; illegal contact fouls against receivers; and minor changes in operation of the play clock.’

Bills have more answers than questions

‘There’s a lot more boxes checked in than empty boxes. Still, tonight’s scrimmage against Green Bay will be used as an extra preseason game to get Losman more exposure. And what he does starting Sept. 11 will be his ultimate measuring stick.’

Anderson, Edwards duke it out at DT

‘Anderson, in his second year in the league and standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing in at 307, has taken note of the veteran players around him. “You’re always trying to learn from the guys around you. Especially Sam, Ron and Justin (Bannan). They’ve been here longer than I have so obviously they bring more stuff to the table that I haven’t seen,” he said. “I do watch what they do and what I do – for better or for worse.”‘

Coaches pleased with productive practice

‘”I liked the way we finished the practice,” said Mularkey, referring to the scrimmage portion conducted over the final 30 minutes. “That was important. That was as close to a game simulation as you can have. It will be very close to what (tonight’s) scrimmage will be like. There’s a lot of positives coming out of this, especially for some of the younger players.”‘

Former UW stars enjoy homecoming

‘For three former University of Wisconsin players on the Buffalo Bills’ training camp roster, receiver Lee Evans and safeties Troy Vincent and Jim Leonhard seem headed in vastly different directions.’

Titletown tour awesome

‘The Buffalo Bills’ training camp at St. John Fisher College has evolved into one of the top experiences for fans and players in the NFL over the past six summers, but let’s be honest. Comparing Rochester to Titletown is comparing Seabreeze to Disneyland.’

Packers had their eye on Losman

‘"We had very high interest (in him)," Sherman said. "We thought he was a very talented young man, and he is. He’ll be one of those surprises, like a (Ben) Roethlisberger-type surprise this year to a lot of people."’

Dr. Z says Bills need fast start

‘"If they get off to a fast start, they have a shot," Zimmerman said. "If they can pick up from that streak they had last year, certainly they have a shot. I don’t know why they put on a spurt like that and scored all of those points, but something lit them up."’

Evans fits the Bills

‘"I know I have come a long way and it just makes me appreciate where I am now a lot more," Evans said. "Before, you kind of take things for granted and everything else. But every day you get up and every day you’re privileged enough to come out here and play this game, it’s a blessing. It’s something that I don’t take for granted."’
