"I’m disappointed for [Kevin] because he’s worked as hard as anybody," said head coach Mike Mularkey. "He’s got six more weeks when the regular season starts to get that thing right and I feel like he will."’

‘They actually have 67 because QB Kevin Thompson and CB Lawrence Richardson are NFL Europe exemptions.’

‘Thomas and Everett will not be eligible to practice with the team until after the conclusion of Week 6. At that time, the players will have a three-week window of opportunity to start practicing to determine whether they’re healthy to be activated or be placed on the season-ending injured-reserve list.’

‘The Bills today announced that the team has waived DB Therrian Fontenot and has placed TE Kevin Everett and DB Kevin Thomas on Reserve/PUP.’

‘Moulds’ mother lives near Gulfport, Miss., but she evacuated before Katrina reached land. Still, Moulds fears a number of people will lose their property. “It’s a tough situation because you never know what’s going to happen,” Moulds said. “So many things happen with roofs and things like that, and so much rain and so much wind, it tears up your city. So it’s hard to rebuild. My prayers go out to the people down there because I know how tough it is to get through a hurricane.”‘

‘”There’s going to be games like that,” said McGahee on Monday after practice at Ralph Wilson Stadium. “You’re not going to come out and break off a lot of good runs. But it’s not how you start, it’s how you end, that’s how I look at it.”‘

‘The Bills have given center Duke Preston a long look as a long snapper, but it appears he won’t replace specialist Jon Dorenbos.’

‘He’s smart and athletic and has the “want”, which isn’t always enough, but in this case I suspect will be. But it won’t happen overnight. Maybe not even this season.’

‘“When they tell you not to go outside and to evacuate, people don’t realize that your life is in your hands,” Moulds said. “When you can see the winds actually pick up a car, you can understand how strong those 145 mph winds are.”’

‘"I have a lot of friends and family members, not blood, but people I spent four and a half years with [in New Orleans]," said Losman. "I’ve got a lot of love and a lot of care for them. They are all out of town. They all evacuated and hopefully their houses and their cars aren’t in trouble."’
