Something is better than nothing for Henry

‘Maybe the Bills can do better than Shelton, who fell out of favor with Arizona coach Dennis Green last season. But if they can’t, getting something for Henry would be better than nothing. Which is exactly what they got for Bledsoe.’

Haslett admits to using steroids

‘He described the introduction of steroids by the Bills to one of their new teammates in the 1980s. "I played with a guy who came into the league, he came out of the USFL," Haslett said. "He was 270, and he would never have made our team if he didn’t get up to 300. The linemen got him together, got him a little supplemental pill for the week and he got up to about 305 and made our team. And he’s probably one of the all-time great players in Bills history. He was a great player." While his description fits former Bills center Kent Hull, Haslett would not name him. Hull joined the Bills from the USFL New Jersey Generals in 1986 and played 11 seasons in Buffalo.’

N.F.L. Owners Vote to Give the Jets a Super Bowl

‘According to an N.F.L. official, the Buffalo Bills were the only franchise that voted against New York.’

Haslett: steroid use rampant in old NFL

‘After being drafted in the second round of the 1979 NFL draft by Buffalo, Haslett was voted The Associated Press defensive rookie of the year. He played eight seasons with the Bills, earning All-Pro honors in 1981. While acknowledging the dangers of steroids, Haslett said he increased his bench press by 40 pounds during the weeks he was using steroids and didn’t need as much recovery time between lifting sessions.’

The Browns Won’t Scrimmage The Bills This Year

‘Crennel says with so many new players, he has too much to teach in a short time.’

Line of Scrimmage

‘Forget that late-season playoff run, the Bills have taken a step back.’

Offseason changes don’t affect outlook for Bills

”’Obviously, a team changes every year,” defensive end Chris Kelsay said. ”But we know what we did last year. We know what we’ve got to improve on. … I think we’re taking the right steps.”’

Voluntary Conditioning Program Underway

‘"I was kind of surprised on how many people actually came back when I pulled up here Monday," said defensive end Chris Kelsay. "I don’t believe we had this many people here last year so it was a pleasant surprise that people are taking it serious that we have a lot of potential."’

Travis Henry’s Threat Wishful Thinking

‘Travis Henry is a quality running back the Bills may or may not be able to receive equal value for. But Henry is in no position to tell the Bills what he will or won’t do.’

No Scrimmage

‘There won’t be a Buffalo vs. Cleveland NFL scrimmage game this summer. The Browns cancelled it.’

Lee Evans Player Diary: A Whirlwind Day

‘It’s really hard to put into words what it feels like waiting to be drafted, but I guess it’s similar to when you’re a little kid waiting for Christmas to come. Sooner or later you know it’s going to come, and you’re just kind of waiting and waiting. It’s that type of feeling.’

Henry says let’s make a deal

‘"We are grateful to the Bills for giving us the chance to talk to other teams," said Engelhard, who is based in Atlanta. "We’re talking with a number of teams. But the team that has shown the greatest interest is Arizona, which has offered L.J. Shelton. We feel like the player-for-player trade is the right deal. It helps both teams fill voids."’

Henry More Unhappy, Burns Signs, Wire Restructures

‘The RB claims Arizona offered the Bills LT L.J. Shelton and he doesn’t understand why Tom Donahoe hasn’t accepted. Henry said, “Arizona has shown interest. They’ve shown they’re ready to pull the trigger. And Donahoe is taking his poor little precious time for some reason.”’

Bills RB Henry prepared to sit out until trade demand met

‘“I’m definitely not going back to Buffalo if that’s what you want to hear,” the running back told The Associated Press on Monday from his home in Orlando, Fla. “No minicamps. No training camp. No nothing. … I packed my stuff and left. As soon as the season was over, I was out of there and I didn’t have any plans of coming back.”’

Backup RB Burns re-signs with Bills

‘Used mostly as a special teams player, Burns had limited carries during his three seasons with the Bills. He had 20 carries for 73 yards rushing including a career-high 27 yards in Buffalo’s 38-14 win over Arizona in October and was credited with 22 special teams tackles last season.’
