‘“That’s a great defense and I’ve got a lot of respect for those guys. They play hard. I know a lot of guys over there and that’s a tough team. When you get a 100 on them, it’s well deserved. We just kept applying what we wanted to do, run the ball, get upfield, and go north and south with it, and we came up with some big plays.”’

‘“That’s the most frustrating thing, playing the way we did (last night),” said Milloy, who celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday. “We have to go back to the drawing board today and realize why we got beat. We have to go back to doing what this team does best.”’

‘“There’s not really much to say,” Bledsoe said with his usual stoicism. “We got beat. We didn’t throw it well enough, we didn’t run it well enough, and we didn’t put enough points on the board.”’

‘So thanks, Drew, for another stinker at The Razor. Come back any time – we’ll bet on the Pats and buy you dinner.’

‘But truly, the game turned in the second quarter.’

‘Prior to last night’s game, Bledsoe had put up the following numbers against the Patriots: 1-4 record, 107-of-183 passing for 1,190 yards, 5 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, while being sacked 18 times. Toss in last night’s debacle and the numbers look even worse.’

‘Life ain’t fair, Drew.’

‘Even though the Bills are a road-challenged outfit, this was even more lopsided than anticipated. But pregame promise of a competitive game vanished quickly as the Patriots bottled-up ballyhooed back Willis McGahee (11 carries, 36 first-half yards) and marshaled three long scoring drives against the normally stingy Bills’ defense.’

‘"We just did not play well enough to beat anybody tonight, especially a team that just doesn’t make mistakes," he said. "We jut didn’t play well all around. Period."’

‘"I knew when they had Moulds in the slot like that, he’s their go-to guy so I kind of figured he’d go in that direction," Brown said. Bledsoe tried to fire a short pass to Moulds cutting toward the middle, but Brown was there to pick it off.’

‘It was likely the nadir of his playing career.’

‘But what would have been the absolute numbers nadir for Bledsoe would have been if a poll had been taken among the fans at Gillette Stadium, inquiring whether, if they could, they would bring him back to New England to replace Brady. The results of that would have been 68,756 to zero. Allowing, of course, for the usual five percent margin of error.’

‘But Bledsoe had apparently locked in on Evans and never saw Bruschi, who he hit in the hands.’

‘Bill Belichick’s not in Drew Bledsoe’s head. He’s in his nightmares.’

‘Sunday at Gillette Stadium, the Patriots’ defense all but took away Bledsoe’s job as Bills starting quarterback.’
