Thursday, November 24, 1994: Lions 35, Bills 21

The Lions scored on a flea-flicker on the second play of the game as Detroit handed the Bills their fourth straight road loss, 35-21 on Thanksgiving Day. WR Herman Moore was the recipient of the flea-flicker, a 51-yard pass from QB Dave Kreig at 14:13 of the first quarter. RB Barry Sanders put the Lions up 14-0 early in the second half on a four-yard run. WR Russell Copeland caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from QB Jim Kelly in the second quarter to bring the Bills within 14-7.

‘Fiedler, who has not played since breaking his right thumb against Denver on Oct. 13, is expected to dress against Buffalo, but coach Dave Wannstedt still has not said whether Fiedler will be the backup quarterback or No. 3. He is listed as questionable.’

‘With an AFC-high 11 sacks, 29 quarterback hurries, 49 tackles, eight passes defensed, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 11 games, he has to be considered a strong candidate to become the third Dolphin in team history to win the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.’

”’You’ve got guys saying, ‘Jerry should be fired. Jerry should be that,”’ Gray said. ”You know what, I’ve talked to a lot of guys and been around a lot of coaches and you know what they say? They say: ‘Jerry, if you’re in this business long enough, you may get fired more than once.””

‘Wannstedt said Wednesday that Fiedler probably will be uniform as the No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback Sunday at Buffalo.’
