There’s no avoiding those two painful words

‘"You’re clicking the remote and that damn lowlight comes up, and you pray that one freaking time that kick will hook just a few feet to the left," says Jim Kelly, the quarterback of all four Bills Super Bowl teams. "But it never does. It’s always wide right." Then. Now. Forever.’

Buffalo’s Wilson merits election to NFL Hall of Fame

‘In terms of longevity and achievement, Wilson belongs in Canton. Hopefully he’ll be elected while he still is breathing.’

Norwood Returns to Site of Super Miss

And so it beings…… Bills fans with less intestinal fortitude may wish go shopping or skiing on Sunday – as Super Bowl coverage is certainly going to bring back a lot of painful memories.

Lewis, Fox coveted for defensive minds

‘Now, Fox and Lewis are hotter than hot. The Browns and Bills are set to go on the offensive Sunday night for Fox and Lewis. The Browns have the money. The Bills have a friend of theirs in high places — team president Tom Donahoe, who worked with Lewis and Fox in Pittsburgh.’

Canton call

‘Justice was served on Saturday when Marv Levy made the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Bill Parcells did not.’

Bills Stay Busy During Super Bowl Week

‘Upon further review, Buffalo’s next head coach won’t necessarily be on the sidelines Sunday night …’

Marv Levy’s Biography

‘In 1986, when Marv Levy was chosen to direct the fortunes of the Buffalo Bills, he brought with him more than 30 years of coaching experience. A graduate of Coe College, Levy began his pro coaching career in 1969 as kicking teams coach for the Philadelphia Eagles…’

Marv Levy enters Hall of Fame

‘Marv Levy, who coached four straight Buffalo Super Bowl teams, and six players including longtime nominees Lynn Swann and Ron Yary were elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.’

Tampa Bay interested in obtaining Flutie

‘Flutie piqued the Bucs’ interest after quarterback coach Clyde Christensen was selected by head coach Tony Dungy as the team’s new offensive coordinator.’

In race for Lewis, money may talk

‘But an NFL source said Friday the Browns have a blockbuster offer prepared to lay on Lewis, the Ravens’ defensive coordinator, as soon as Super Bowl XXXV is over. Lewis is the clear-cut No. 1 on the Browns’ list.’

Still King of the Block

Patriots owner Robert Kraft now has regrets about letting Sam Gash go. “Sam Gash was one of my favorite players,'' the Patriots owner said yesterday. “He's a tough, physical guy who was all about the team. You can't win consistently without leaders like that, guys who lead by example. You can't have guys who talk and don't perform." (Many Bills fans feel the same way Bob.)

Bills Interview Titans’ Williams

‘Before meeting with Williams, Donahoe declined to rank the candidates, but did say he hoped to have the process completed by "Wednesday or so."’

[Gregg] Williams Impressed

‘Following his daylong meeting with Bills president Tom Donahoe, Gregg Williams was not coy about making his interest in the Bills head coaching job known.’

Tagliabue Gives “State of the NFL” Address

Reading between the lines, Tagliabue pretty much says that in 2002 Buffalo will be playing in the AFC East with Miami, New England, and the Jets. The key segment is here: "On realignment, Tagliabue said discussions are continuing. They basically are focusing, according to NFL sources, on whether Houston or Baltimore stays in the AFC Central with Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Cleveland. The edge goes to the Houston Texans going into the Central so that they are not in the same division as the old Houston franchise, the Tennessee Titans." This means that the Bills are out of the running for being in the AFC Central, and thus will stay in the East.

Tagliabue endorses Wilson, Levy for Hall of Fame

‘NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue on Friday endorsed Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson and former Bills coach Marv Levy for the Hall of Fame.’
