Marker Bills coach sees light at end of dark tunnel [5:19 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'In other words, could it be that the real reason for the continued failure of this offense might be the inadequate play of the players, most of whom returned from last year, and not even the likes of Mularkey, Clements, Wyche and McNally can cure what ails this team? The numbers support that theory.'

Marker Chained to the job, and they love it [5:18 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"I can't believe how much abuse the head linesman takes from assistant coaches and players because he happens to be the official closest to the benches," Kornaker says. "Let's just say that the officials give NFL coaches a lot more latitude in questioning calls and non-calls than referees give Division III basketball coaches."'

Marker Steelers proving rookie QBs can win [5:17 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Ben Roethlisberger's hot start (3-0) with the Pittsburgh Steelers is proof that a rookie quarterback can win in the NFL. Hopefully, his unexpected success in relief of injured Tommy Maddox will inspire the Buffalo Bills to give rookie QB J.P. Losman some serious on-the-job training in the second half of this season.'

Marker Morris next at tailback for Dolphins [5:16 AM]
Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel reports: '"Going back to Buffalo is secondary in nature now," Morris said. "We've got to get a win. We're in a tough spot. They're in a tough spot and for me it just happens to be against my old team."'

Marker Morris hopes for long run as starting back [5:15 AM]
Palm Beach Post reports: 'Just because nearly two years have passed since Dolphins cornerback Patrick Surtain claimed that Bills receiver Eric Moulds spit on him, don't think the two have reconciled. "There is no making up. Never, ever. No," Surtain said. "It wouldn't be giving in, it's just the nature of the beast. You can't be friends with guys like that."'

Marker Buffalo's Bledsoe battered, but still dangerous [5:13 AM]
Florida Today reports: '"He's a good quarterback, still," Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor said. "People are trying to write him off and I know he's taken a lot of heat in Buffalo about taking sacks and lack of production offensively, which any quarterback is going to get when their offense isn't performing. But Drew's been a good player in this league for a long time. He's still a good player. He's very dangerous."'

Marker Henry Is Improving [8:34 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Mularkey also wants to run Henry through some drills on Saturday to see if there are things he can't do.'

Marker Bills activate Haddad off practice squad [8:33 PM]
AP reports: '''He's a good inside guy and has good instincts,'' said coach Mike Mularkey.'

Marker Tops Game Ball Winner: Lee Evans [4:19 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Going against the College secondary is nothing like going against a pro secondary. It's completely different. You have to be so much more technically sound. I'm adjusting and day-by-day and practice-by-practice I'm getting better at it. It's still a continuous learning process. In time it will click.'

Marker Bills Sign Haddad to 53-Man Roster [4:18 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'The Bills announced today that the team has signed practice squad wide receiver Drew Haddad to its 53-man roster.'

Marker Fiedler says he'll start against Bills [3:38 PM]
AP reports: 'Sammy Morris will become the fourth player to start at running back this season for the winless Dolphins, replacing Leonard Henry. Morris has been slowed by an ankle injury and concussion and limited to 8 yards in five carries this season. Morris spent the first four years of his career in Buffalo before signing with the Dolphins (0-5) in March. ''There's a little something different playing against guys I played with for four years,'' he said.'

Marker Henry practices but remains questionable [1:49 PM]
AP reports: 'Coach Mike Mularkey said Henry has progressed, but will wait until Sunday to make a decision as to whether he'll be able to play. Henry's questionable status increases the possibility that Willis McGahee will get his first career start.'

Marker Bills send a message by cutting Shaw [1:08 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'Basically, Mike Mularkey waived a player whose contribution to the offense was minimal, but who was visible and well-liked. To him, it was a win-win situation. Cutting a veteran non-producer didn’t hurt the offense and had the potential to send a message to a team that seemingly had previously lacked accountability for its winless start.'

Marker Bills need to bore owner to beat Dolphins [12:34 PM]
Niagara Falls Reporter reports: 'Bills, 20-10.'

Marker Troubles snowball in South Florida [8:54 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'With such an impotent offense, the Dolphins' defense is under pressure to virtually pitch a shutout each Sunday. "We have to perform at a very high level, and we don't have a lot of room for error," Taylor said of the defense. "That's unfortunate, but that's the way it is. We have to keep teams out of the end zone and field-goal range, too, because we're not scoring a lot of points. In order for our defense to give our team a chance to win, we have to keep teams off the scoreboard, period."'

Marker Not everyone staying mad at Ricky for walking away [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I'd heard players say they've lost that lust for the game and feel like the weight of the world is on their shoulders, and I can respect that," Moulds said. "But at the same time, I would feel the way a lot of the Miami Dolphins feel, that they were left out in the cold. Ricky's a great player, but what he did and how he did it really hurt the team. It would be hard for me to welcome him back."'

Marker Only an accountant could completely explain salary cap [8:53 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'I'll have to give you the CliffsNotes answer for two reasons: 1), there's not enough space for the full answer; and 2), unless you're an accountant, you probably don't want the full answer.'

Marker Just Asking [8:52 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'What else do you like to do away from the game? "I love fishing, boating, being out on the water. We have a couple boats back home on the Susquehanna River. We have a pontoon and a jon boat (a flat-bottom boat). I love quadding (riding all-terrain vehicles) up in the mountains. A bunch of us get on our quads and go all day. Fishing is another thing where this is how it used to be. If you didn't catch anything, you went hungry."'

Marker Bills still looking for magic of home [5:01 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Buffalo is batting .500 at home the past two-plus seasons (9-9) and .385 (10-16) since general manager Tom Donahoe took charge three-plus years ago.'

Marker Newbies feeling at home [4:59 AM]
North Raleigh News reports: '"Even when the Bills are losing it's like a family," Pfeiffer said. "They can rip your heart out, but boy it's fun."'

Marker Wire Surprised By Loss Of Shaw [4:58 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'While the Bills coaching staff said the midseason cutting of Bobby Shaw was for production reasons, one can't ignore the implied message that was sent to the rest of the team. Wire told Brad and Jer that he got the message loud and clear, "It makes a strong statement and opened some guys eyes. It lets you know that each day you come to work your job is on the line and you can't take anything for granted. You just can't take a day off in this league."'

Marker No Joke Sunday [4:57 AM]
WOKR-TV reports: 'Bills 23 Dolphins 6.'

Marker Shaw may catch on [4:56 AM]
Boston Herald reports: 'Veteran receiver Bobby Shaw, who was released by Buffalo Wednesday, was at Gillette Stadium yesterday meeting with the Pats coaches and other personnel. If all goes well, it's possible Shaw could be in uniform in time for Sunday's game against Seattle.'

Marker Bills' RB Henry questionable for Sunday [10:14 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Henry, who was injured during the first quarter of Buffalo's loss to the Jets on Sunday, could be replaced in the starting lineup by Willis McGahee if he's not ready to go. But that will likely be a gametime decision for head coach Mike Mularkey.'

Marker Bills/Dolphins Sold Out. Wire Upgraded [10:02 PM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Coy Wire practiced again on Thursday and has been upgraded to probable. Travis Henry and Jonas Jennings are both still limping and missed practice. They remain questionable.'

Marker Miami (0-5) at Buffalo (0-4) [5:47 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'Bills 14, Dolphins 0.'

Marker Family Fun for Backers of Naples, FL [4:50 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Why the drastic increase in membership? Bamberg and the other members worked hard at getting the word out. "We finally marketed what we were up to," Bamberg said. "We tried to really show our presence in the off-season."'

Marker Bills vs. Dolphins Sold Out [4:49 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: 'This week's game is the 11th straight sellout for the Bills.'
