Marvin Lewis news conference [8:59 PM]
Bengals.com reports: 'Are the fingerprints of Dick LeBeau all over the Buffalo defense?
ďNo, I wouldnít say that. I think itís still the things that Tennessee did, and the Houston Oilers before that. Thatís where Gregg (Williams) was, and also Jerry Gray, who is coordinating their defense. What Dick (LeBeau) brings is a sense of calmness and stability and some reinforcement of the things that they are doing when Gregg is not there with them. They have a resource in Dick and his coaching ability and philosophy.Ē'
Jon Kitna news conference [8:58 PM]
Bengals.com reports: What does Takeo do best?
ďIf you run the same play twice, heís on it. The play that stands out to me is in Baltimore two years ago, and they ran a sprint pass for the second time in the game and he ran out of what his job was supposed to be, because he saw the play. He trusted his instincts and got an interception and ran it back for a touchdown. Thatís the thing about him, he recognizes you and what you are trying to do. If you run the same play twice, heís going to be in that spot, and thatís a lot like Rod Woodson.Ē'

Middle Age Crisis [9:32 AM]
TBD reports: 'In the first two weeks I could not contain my glee, as Bledsoe & Co. rattled off 68 points in the opening eight quarters, and the running game delivered 5 TDs. I remarked on how happy I would have been in recent years to get that total over 4 games. How prescient that thought had turned out to be. As the Bills offense sputtered to add a total of 13 points in the following two games, we are almost back to the depths of time when we had vicious debates on the choice of a starting quarterback...'
Spikes vents displeasure over lapses on defense [8:54 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It's gotta mean something to you deep down inside," Spikes said. "When you wake up in the morning and you look in the mirror - you might not say it out loud - but did you do everything possible to help this team win? He smiled and got a gleem in his eyes "I'd love the have my hands on the ball" but of course he doesn't think it will happen.
The second speaker was our magical long snapper and his rope tricks. He is so great up beat and friendly.

They Way We Hear It [9:43 PM]
Pro Football Weekly reports: Bills CB Nate Clements has played quite well since the halfway point of the 2002 season, and we hear there are several reasons for it. First, Clements believes he benefited from a tough offseason, during which he lost 15 pounds and came into training camp in the absolute best shape of his career. During training camp, Bills observers say he worked hard on his footwork and seemingly has improved it nicely. Clements has three interceptions (including one returned for a touchdown) and 15 tackles thus far in í03 and has been a nice complement to fellow CB Antoine Winfield, who is known more for his run support than his coverage capabilities. We hear that he may not come across as such all the time, but Clements is a film-study fanatic and loves to pick apart his performances to make himself better.
Bills Alumni Spotlight: Thomas Smith [8:39 PM]
BuffaloBills.com reports: '"I am a minister for the Lord. Iím currently a bishop at the Covenant Ministry International in Little Rock, Arkansas. I really enjoy being around the word of God. The same thing is found spiritually. When you get saved, you really donít know what the word of God says, and the benefits of the word of God, and who you are, and your purpose here on earth. Once you dig deeper into the things of God and the bible and find out who you are and your purpose here on earth, its invaluable. Iíve been on fire ever since. Itís just been an amazing ride, it really has."'
