Marker Jets dodge bullet at home against Bills [1:07 PM]
The Sports Network reports: 'John Abraham continued to be a menace on the defensive side of the ball for the Jets, as he recorded three more sacks to up his AFC-leading total to six on the season. It should come as no surprise that Abraham had a huge game against Bledsoe, whom he has sacked eight times in his career - the most of any QB in the league.'

Marker Bills Team Report [1:06 PM]
The Sporting News reports: 'Coy Wire, who had been filling in for SS Lawyer Milloy (arm), was benched because of struggles in pass coverage. Wire's replacement, Pierson Prioleau, is undersized (5-11, 188) and has spent most of his career at free safety. Second-year CB Terrence McGee, playing in place of Troy Vincent (knee), has good speed but is short (5-9) and has trouble covering crossing routes.'

Marker Know him from Adam [12:49 PM] reports: 'What do you remember about your NFL training-camp experience with the Buffalo Bills?
Cain: I remember bumping into Bruce Smith's (butt).'

Marker Bills still looking for winning formula [12:49 PM]
Niagara Gazette reports: 'Sunday’s 16-14 loss to the New York Jets leaves the Bills as just one of two winless teams remaining in the NFL. The good news — or bad news, depending on one’s viewpoint — is that there’s a good chance that number will diminish to one six days from now when the Bills host the winless Miami Dolphins at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Of course, with the offense both teams have, it’s very likely the game could end in a scoreless tie.'

Marker Too little, too late [12:48 PM]
Niagara Gazette reports: '“We keep making the same mistakes,” Buffalo quarterback Drew Bledsoe said. “It’s frustrating. The coaches have put us in a position to win, but we haven’t taken advantage of it.”'

Marker Another long walk [9:01 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Big whoopee.'

Marker Bills' big men make a large admission [9:00 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"We didn't close it," Adams said.'

Marker Fletcher turns in huge effort in Bills' defeat [8:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Fletcher's 21 tackles, including 15 solo, during the Bills' 16-14 loss to the New York Jets matched his career high. He had 21 stops (also 15 solo) against the San Francisco 49ers while playing for the St. Louis Rams in 2001.'

Marker McGahee cashes in on his chance to contribute [8:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"It felt good to get out there," said McGahee, who had only 11 carries for 28 yards in the previous three games. "I've just been waiting for my opportunity, just staying patient. Once I get my opportunities, I try to make the most of them."'

Marker From the grasp of victory [8:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Jeff Posey's fourth-quarter interception of Chad Pennington's ill-advised throw was the Bills' first pick in their last eight road games, the equivalent of an entire NFL season.'

Marker Grading the Bills [8:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Coaching (D): Mularkey was brought in to fix offense. Obviously, it's the players. But staff needs to make more of Evans, Moulds.'

Marker All for naught [5:21 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: '"He had every right to be pissed off," guard Chris Villarrial said. "We're out there sputtering and not getting things done. It's good that he got pissed off. Guys started to step up and we put up a fast 14 points. The outcome's not what we wanted, but as far as maturity we took a step today."'

Marker How long will Bills wait for their playmakers? [5:20 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Maybe this Buffalo team that general manager Tom Donahoe has put together is what it is: An 0-4 team that, thanks to a bye week, isn't 0-5 and residing at the bottom of the NFL right alongside the Miami Dolphins.'

Marker Bills D breaks again in clutch [5:19 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'But the fact is, for as good as the Bills' defense is, it is also incredibly flawed and overrated. Great NFL defenses know how to close the deal, and this one never does.'

Marker Two-minute read [5:18 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Came to play...Bills RB Willis McGahee: Now was that so hard?'

Marker Buffalo Bills report card [5:17 AM]
Rochester D&C reports: 'Coaching: Mike Mularkey did a good job regrouping his team after falling behind 13-0 in the third quarter and wisely turned to young guys McGahee and Evans for a spark. Defense had no answer for Pennington on winning field goal drive. B-'

Marker Henry hits Green wall [5:17 AM]
New York Post reports: '"We got two, three — sometimes more than two or three — hats on the ball every play," said DE Shaun Ellis. "We played like a team."'

Marker Winless Bills believe they will turn it around [5:16 AM]
New York Newsday reports: '"I don't know how they haven't won a game," Wayne Chrebet said.'

Marker There's little room for Henry to roam [5:15 AM]
Newark Star Ledger reports: '"That (stopping Henry) was our main goal," Jets nose tackle Jason Ferguson said. Said LB Victor Hobson: "That was definitely a focus. We felt if we stopped the run, we would be in a great position to win. Obviously, they hit a couple of pass plays on us and we'll try to correct that this week."'

Marker Picking on the rookie [5:14 AM]
White Plains Journal News reports: 'Prioleau is a third-string safety on the Bills' depth chart. But Lawyer Milloy — Buffalo's starting strong safety — and backup Coy Wire were both inactive yesterday due to injuries. That put Prioleau in the starting lineup. "We went at him a little bit," Jets coach Herman Edwards said. "I thought Paul (Hackett, the offensive coordinator) did a good job trying to attack him."'

Marker Jets Come From Behind To Send The Bills To 0-4 [5:13 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'The Bills offensive line was awful as a group. They never opened holes for Henry. The two McGahee long gains were on misdirection pitches. The only time Bledsoe had adequate time was in the two touchdown drives when he went six of eight for 97 yards and two scores with no sacks. The rest of the time he was 10 of 21 for 100 yards with no touchdowns, one interception and four sacks. Ross Tucker was called for a chincy tripping penalty, but he did skip a shotgun snap back to Bledsoe for an aborted play that caused a punt. He really wasn't any better or worse than Trey Teague who's injured. Chris Villarrial came advertised as a great run blocker, but it hasn't materialized yet. Lawrence Smith is a better pass blocker, but that doesn't help the feeble running game. Shelton has not impressed me with his blocking either.'

Marker McGahee Makes His Case [5:12 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'There are 12 games left, and the Bills coaching staff can’t wait until the 4th quarter, or select 3rd down situations anymore. The Bills need to get Willis McGahee more involved. They’d be crazy not to.'

Marker Bills Remain Winless [5:12 AM] reports: 'Buffalo (0-4) host Miami (0-5) next Sunday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.'

Marker Offense Starting to Stretch the Field [5:11 AM] reports: 'The Bills are now taking a lot more chances down the field and are connecting with at least one big play per game. Bledsoe took a shot downfield to Moulds early in the first quarter against New York and just barely overthrew him. The offensive line is doing a decent job of giving Bledsoe the time to examine the field and look for the big play. They picked up the blitz to allow Bledsoe to get the ball to Evans.'

Marker More Abraham for Bledsoe [5:11 AM] reports: 'The timing of Abraham’s stops on Sunday is what made them so special. The first came in the opening stanza with Bledsoe and company facing a 2nd and 7 from the Jets 26-yard line. He dropped Bledsoe for a loss of eight that essentially put them out of field goal range and forced a punt two plays later. The second came on 2nd and 11 at the Buffalo 28. Abraham came around the corner and found Bledsoe standing in the pocket, dropping him for a loss of seven. After an incompletion on third down, the Bills were forced to punt, giving the ball back to the Jets with enough time to get in range for a 37-yard Doug Brien field goal before the half.'

Marker Bills Lose Tough One 16-14 [5:10 AM] reports: This game was eerily similar to the other three. The Bills had a chance to win it in the final minutes but once again failed to finish the game and are now 0-4 on the season after the 16-14 loss to the Jets.

Marker Defense Falters On Final Drive In Loss [5:10 AM] reports: The defense and offense couldn't put it all together at the same time. Here are our position by position grades:

Marker Brien's Late Field Goal Gives Jets Win [7:59 PM] reports: 'But Pennington responded. The Jets took over with 6:03 left in the final quarter, and New York’s star signal caller marched his troops down the field, and with 1:03 left in the contest, Brien hit a 38-yard field goal to give the Jets’ a lead 16-13 lead that they would not relinquish. Terrell Buckley intercepted Bledsoe’s Hail Mary attempt on the final play of the game, and the Jets improved to 4-0 on the season.'

Marker New York Jets 16, Buffalo 14 [7:29 PM]
AP reports: 'Travis Henry, who usually gives the Jets fits, had 12 carries for 33 yards and was limited in the second half by an ankle injury. McGahee, who has complained about his playing time, filled in and had eight carries for 42 yards.'
