Marker What the NFL had to say about the Buffalo Bills' stadium situation, ownership [1:47 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: '"Buffalo's fans are legendary and rank right up there with the greatest fans in the NFL," Grubman said. "Ownership there is evaluating their options, and those options are very long-term in nature. I don't want to speak for them, but I think you can see by virtue of the fact that they're not waiting and have done work on the stadium already that they care about their fans and they care about Buffalo."'

Marker 7 questions facing Buffalo Bills heading into NFL owners meetings [1:46 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'A report from Jason La Canfora of CBS cast serious doubt over the future of general manager Doug Whaley in Buffalo. McDermott has been the lone voice for the Bills since he was hired, and it's fair to wonder whether he would want to bring in like-minded personnel people rather than continue with an arranged marriage. This issue will likely be at the forefront of all things Bills this week.'

Marker Teams the Bills could trade down with in the NFL Draft [1:45 AM]
Batavia Daily News reports: 'Along with the Bills, the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons only have six draft picks. Buffalo has the highest first pick of those three teams, making them a target for team who’d like to trade up in the draft.'

Marker Another reminder of how lucky Western New York is [1:44 AM]
Batavia Daily News reports: 'Along with the Pegula’s, Western New York has the team’s founder, Ralph Wilson Jr., to thank for the team sticking around. Perhaps Ralph didn’t leave fans feeling as good as he could have upon his passing, but the late owner certainly could have moved the team to a more profitable location during his lifetime.'

Marker Sean McDermott, head coach at last, pays tribute to Andy Reid [1:43 AM]
Philadelphia Inquirer reports: '"Working with Andy Reid you see that there's a plan and there's a progression, and if you go about things the right way there's a chance, " McDermott said Monday. "And I think Andy modeled [that]. When I got to know Andy, I got to know his story and how he became a head coach. That gave me hope and a vision."'

Marker Bills claim defensive lineman Crichton off waivers [1:42 AM]
AP reports: 'Crichton appeared sparingly over 21 games during his first two seasons and missed all of last season because of an injury. He's listed at 6-foot-3 and 273 pounds.'

Marker Bills hire talent consultant to improve their public image [1:41 AM]
ESPN reports: 'The move is significant for the Bills after the organization came under public scrutiny late last season, which Buffalo finished with a record of 7-9. A pair of news conferences -- interim coach Anthony Lynn's first news conference on Dec. 28 and Whaley's season-ending news conference on Jan. 2 -- created more questions than answers about how decisions involving the team were being made.'

Marker Bills claim defensive end off waivers [1:40 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Crichton spent the entire 2016 season on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending concussion / neck injury during the preseason.'

Marker Examining the Bills current salary cap situation [1:39 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Even though 90 players will be on the training camp roster, only the top-51 salaries count against the salary cap during the offseason. Once teams cut down to their final 53-man roster all 53 players will count against the cap;'

Marker Bills claim DE Scott Crichton from waivers [1:38 AM]
WKBW-TV reports: 'Crichton hasn’t done much of anything in the NFL but still remains a definitive candidate to make the 53-man roster as it stands today just because of the lack of depth at the position. Crichton is a little bit of a stiffer player that didn’t show a lot getting after the quarterback in college.'

Marker Bills turn to former ESPN talent coach to boost image [1:37 AM]
WKBW-TV reports: 'The organization was criticized both locally and nationally for sending then interim head coach Anthony Lynn to answer questions regarding the firing of Rex Ryan and the benching of quarterback Tyrod Taylor.'

Marker 5 Bills things to watch at NFL Owners Meetings (3/27/17) [1:36 AM]
WKBW-TV reports: 'Pegula will speak with the media while at the Owner’s Meetings, but if there was a time and a place for it to happen, it would be in Phoenix with all of the who’s who in the NFL in one place.'

Marker Bills add another defensive end [1:35 AM] reports: 'Crichton joins the Bills after spending the previous three seasons with Minnesota. He saw action in 21 games in 2014 and 2015 and spent the 2016 season on injured reserve.'

Marker Bills Today: Seymour eyes big opportunity as offseason workouts approach [1:34 AM] reports: '“Last year I had a nice opportunity to get my feet wet and get the understanding of what being a starter felt like,” Seymour said. “Now, the opportunity is here and I’m going to take full advantage of it as much as I can and I’m definitely excited about that.”'

Marker McDermott, not Whaley, as 'Bills voice' [1:03 PM]
Olean Times Herald reports: 'On Thursday, April 20, the last day of voluntary veteran mini-camp, McDermott is scheduled to talk about those workouts … AND the draft. There’s no mention of Whaley, who has been the lead voice in the Bills pre-draft luncheon for the past six years. Normally, Jim Monos, the Director of Player Personnel, also takes part as well as a scout or two.'

Marker Bucky Gleason: Sabres, Bills still waiting for lifeboats [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Nobody should blame Terry and Kim Pegula for that much misery, but nobody should absolve them, either. They contributed their share after purchasing the Sabres and later assuming command over the Bills. They inherited problems with both teams, added more layers and offered few solutions.'

Marker Lorenzo Alexander: Using courage to defy the odds [1:58 AM] reports: ' “…[it dates] back to my mother who is a single parent, raising a young man in the inner city of Oakland, Calif. during the ‘80s and ‘90s when the gang and drug violence was at perhaps its highest,” said Alexander. “Building that great foundation, sacrificing for me, showing me what it meant to work hard and provide. Providing me with my uncle, Steven Moore, who showed me what it looked like to raise a family, [to be] a great husband [and to] give back by coaching…”'

Marker Jerry Sullivan: Bills should fire Doug Whaley and be done with it [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'They should fire Whaley right now and be done with it. Stop the charade that he's still empowered. Put him out of his misery. If this goes on much longer, it'll make their decision to fire Darcy Regier seem hasty and impulsive by comparison.'

Marker Bills not projected to land any 2018 compensatory draft picks [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'There is still time for that to change, but it would take a run on former Bills signing elsewhere to make that happen. If players like Zach Brown, Corbin Bryant, Robert Blanton, Leger Douzable, Brandon Spikes, Corey White and Jerome Felton sign elsewhere, it could impact the Bills' chances. Those players would have to sign with a new team by May 9 -- any signings after that do not impact the compensatory formula, which sometimes means teams will wait to improve their chances of landing additional draft picks.'

Marker Jay Skurski's Mock Draft II: Bills fill a big need at No. 10 [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan. Note to self: There are A LOT of O.J. Howard fans on Twitter, and one can easily spend an afternoon debating the merits of drafting a tight end. In this exercise, Howard is gone, so the debate doesn’t exist. While a new head coach usually gets a pick on his side of the ball, it’s hard to argue that receiver isn’t the biggest need on this team. The Bills are one Sammy Watkins rolled ankle away from Andre Holmes being the No. 1 receiver. Davis checks all the boxes and would be a nice pairing with Watkins, while also providing some insurance if the team’s franchise receiver can’t make it through another season because of injury.'

Marker Wade Phillips 'disappointed' Bills sold his gift to Ralph Wilson [1:57 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Wednesday night, for example, the former Buffalo Bills' head coach and current defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams tweeted out his "disappointment" that his former team sold a gift he gave to late founding owner Ralph Wilson Jr.'

Marker Sully's Mailbag: Taylor deal a mild show of faith by Bills' coach [1:56 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'But from what I can see, that's what happened. McDermott decided Taylor was his best chance to win games in the short term, so they brought Tyrod back with a revised deal. It's more favorable to the team, essentially giving Taylor a $10 million pay cut and slashing the potential cap hit if they walk away from him after 2017.'

Marker Editorial: Tax break for Bills is hardly worth the ill will [1:55 AM]
Buffalo News reports: 'Yes, there is a risk of appearing to “nickel-and-dime” the Pegulas, as Erie County Legislature Chairman John J. Mills, R-Orchard Park, worried. But the reverse is also true as the billionaire Pegulas appear to some to be nickel-and-diming county taxpayers.'

Marker Buffalo Bills replay proposal among 24 proposed rule, bylaw changes on docket [1:54 AM]
Syracuse Post Standard reports: 'The Bills proposed a similar rule change a year ago. Here's a full list of the proposed changes as announced by the league.'

Marker Chad Hall, former Air Force star, takes his defiant will to Buffalo Bills coaching staff [1:53 AM]
Colorado Springs Gazette reports: '"I think I can offer these kids a lot," said Hall. "Help them with developing and growing. Sometimes these players are growing up in the NFL after just getting out of college. I can help with any issues, and I can help off the field. I want to be a very positive limelight to these kids and their lives."'

Marker Here are the proposed rules and bylaw changes at NFL meetings next week [1:52 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'By Buffalo and Seattle; Permits a coach to challenge any officials’ decision except scoring plays and turnovers.'

Marker Inside the Bills' proposed rule change [1:51 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'Each review will be a maximum of 60 seconds in length, timed from when the Referee begins review of the replay at the field-level monitor.'

Marker Bills Today: Taylor makes list of free agent winners [1:50 AM] reports: 'I was so thrilled for Taylor when the Bills and his agent found a way to rework his deal to keep him in lovely Western New York. Taylor has been a good quarterback -- completing 62.6 percent of his passes for 6,058 yards, a 94.2 passer rating and a TD-to-INT ratio of 37:12 in two seasons as the Bills starter -- and a legit leader. I think he can elevate his game even more now that former coach Rex Ryan is gone and discipline will be restored in Buffalo -- the team won't be penalized like it was last year, when it racked up 127 penalties costing a total of 960 yards. Sean McDermott is a worker, and it goes noted he rightly wantedTaylor back. Taylor won't have to worry about being used as a pawn in a mind-numbing and unfair game between Ryan and GM Doug Whaley.'

Marker Leonard Johnson brings a working knowledge of Sean McDermott's defense to Buffalo [1:59 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '"I just love being able to go out and play with confidence in my strengths," Johnson said in a conference call with the Western New York media this week. "Any time you can go out and play without thinking, you’re playing fast and you enjoy playing the game. When coach introduced the defense to me, it was almost like ‘man, it’s simple,’ but at the same time it can be a little bit challenging learning the terminology and just knowing where to be at the right time, but it eliminates all the thinking of it.

Marker CBS report suggests all is not well with Sean McDermott-Doug Whaley pairing [1:58 AM]
Buffalo News reports: '“I continue to hear that new Bills coach Sean McDermott has growing cache with ownership and that team could be bringing in vice presidents and/or personnel figures with ties to the coach in the near future,” La Canfora writes. “Panthers director of player personnel is someone particularly well thought of who could end up in Buffalo after the draft in one capacity or another. There are already rumblings that the marriage of McDermott and Bills Gm Doug Whaley likely isn’t built to last.”'
