Marker Alan Branch could be in danger of not making Bills final roster [1:51 AM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'To put it lightly, Branch hasn't been having a strong preseason. After receiving a three-year contract extension with a $3.1 million signing bonus after the 2013 season, Branch reported to camp out of shape and failed his conditioning test. Since, he hasn't gotten to play with the first or even second-team defense much at all. He's been stuck on the third team and isn't making enough plays to move up the depth chart.'

Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'Sammy Watkins went down with an injury early in the game on Saturday, so Robert Woods got his chance at extended time with the Bills' first-team offense. He made the most of it, catching three passes on six targets for 49 yards. The Bills' wide receiver depth chart is crowded, but Manuel obviously has a lot of faith in Woods, so that should help the second-year receiver get his share of reps.'

The first team defense held the Steelers to just 11 yards on seven carries not counting Landry Jones kneel down at the end of the half. BuffaloBills.com reports: 'Ross Cockrell: The fourth-round pick appears to be getting more and more comfortable in the NFL setting. He looks more willing to trust his instincts now that he has a better handle on the defensive scheme. More plays on the ball in coverage will be an indication that he’s playing faster.'

Marker Sammy Watkins becoming EJ Manuel's go-to target, and 5 things to watch for in Bills-Steelers preseas [4:06 PM]
Syracuse Post-Standard reports: 'The Bills allowed the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL last season, so the run defense has been a point of emphasis for them this offseason. The additions of Brandon Spikes and Keith Rivers seem to be helping. Buffalo's first-team defense has been solid against the run in the first two preseason games and made life tough on the Steelers' running game during joint practices. Saturday is another good test for this unit.'

Marker Is Bills’ Manuel primed for a breakout? [1:59 AM]

Marker 5 things to watch for during Bills - Steelers [1:56 AM]
WGR-AM reports: 'In the team’s first preseason contest versus the New York Giants, the starting offense got their feet wet with a pair of uninspiring drives. EJ Manuel completed only two passes and it riled up nerves for some fans of the team. In their second preseason game against Carolina, Manuel looked much more comfortable in the pocket and finished the day with nine successful completions, two of which that went for significant gains (28 and 32 yards). The common theme between both outings, though, resides in the fact that the first-team offense of the Bills failed to convert any of their drives into one that ended in a touchdown.'
